double check the 30A "MAIN" fuse in the underhood fuse block and the 15A "AM2" fuse n the under dash fuse blockdoes your 2006 Vibe have a manual or automatic transmission? What did you do to the car between when it last worked and when it first stopped working?

I have a manual and i was playing around with the relays i've connected to the 12v constant.nothing is busted under the hood and i don't see a box in the car. even looked in the manual to see if it'd tell me where it is but i don't see it.

the second fuse box is under the steering wheel on the driver side. Lay on the floorboard and look up.

OK the 15A was blown, the car starts now. I have no 30A main on the inside of the car, and the one outside seems to be fine. I did blow my alarm brain in the process. Luckily it was the alarm brain company's tech support that advised me to do what led to the busted brain. that should allow me to get it replaced.thanks again for the help.

You don't sound the most competent with common car systems.. I mean 95% of cars I know has the fuse panel under the drivers dash.. I don't mean to sound rude, but I also don't candy coat things that could be a hazard to yourself or others... Not sure if you've ever seen a car go up in flames due to crappy wiring, but I have.. I used to fix all of it for a living... I could tell you WHICH shop it came from, or weather it was a driveway job gone bad.. Nothing personal I assure you.. I'm just to the point..

I learned about the underhood fuse block here at genvibe. The inconvenient location of that fuse block has been a source of woe for many of us. The 12V outlet in my dash is touchy, I've blown a few CIG fuses. The 2006 owners manual does describe the under dash fuse block on page 5-92, but only gives a token description of it's location. For anyone wanting a copy of any year's Vibe Owner's manual, you can download them from links in http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id ... limewind's signature has a link to an on-line version of the 03 Toyota Matrix service manual. Almost all of that still applies to 2006 Vibe's as well. I've used those wiring diagrams a lot.I would probably use a different source for the constant 12V for the alarm instead of the line running to the ignition switch. Perhaps use one of those "add-a-circuit" things to add a separate fused line right at the fuse block, or tap into the constant 12V feeding the radio, or several other sources. I try to not mess with the main ignition line, because if something goes wrong, well, then the car won't start

I mean 95% of cars I know has the fuse panel under the drivers dash.. I most certainly am learning, and I did see that the manual said it was there but i've never seen it "UNDER", under the dash before, but by the kickpanel in a million and one cars. and i've stared at it for hours but didn't notice it, because it's the smallest fusebox i've ever seen. I just thought that it was something else.Quote »I don't mean to sound rude, but I also don't candy coat things that could be a hazard to yourself or others... I can imagine the drama that I could cause, and I make sure that I study everything and test leads and install the proper equipment to prevent fires and shorts and things like that. Not saying that this is any excuse for me to not know better, but it was actually the alarm company that instructed me to reverse the two wires that caused the short. I figured it was a blown fuse protecting the rest of the car, but I couldn't find the box under the car.And I appreciated the blunt advice, even if i might've been a little upset if you didn't put the suguar coated disclaimer in it

Where are some other 12v constants? Only reason I chose the ignition was cause i couldn't find another. I'm not very comfortable with the ignition being tapped either, tbh.
