IMO, yes... get winter tires!!! One drive in the white stuff with them is all it will take to reassure you that you did the right thing.Last winter here we had a few good dumps but the rest of the time it was clear skies and twenty below freezing cold, I wouldn't go back to all seasons... even if the roads were clear

With an AWD, most likely not. That being said , I really like the General Altimax Arctic tires on my 09 FWD model. New all season tires would get you through the next 3 winters, IMHO.

Hey brother You can get a cheap set of tires from Joe's tire and Battery. Got my Firestone winterforce tires there for under 60 bucks each mounted ballanced. As you know I have awd with four snows, I also got my wife snow tires as well. Now the way I look at it, is like this. I want to be sure I equip my car with the very best set up for weather conditions. So that I can have control over my car even when others my not have control over their car.Last year I had no trouble getting around in the snow. I even went out just to have some fun in one 8+inch snow fall. I would look in to it being your lowered.

AWD is great to get you going but it doesn't add anything when you're trying to stop. The general altimax are a good low-cost option for people hesitating between all-seasons and winter tires.Winter tires won't be important for the 90% of the time you won't need them but you'll really like them the other 10% of the time.

Until you actually drive with snow tires, you have no idea what you are missing. I have coworkers that made fun of me for putting snow tires on my 4x4 escape in Duluth, MN. All they have are all seasons, but my DD tires are high way all seasons aka crap for snow. Snow tires are freaking awesome! I dont think I'll own another winter car without them. I buy my winter tires from ratings by Consumer Reports. I've never had a bad tire from them. I've had 3 sets now, fwd vibe, fwd mazdaspeed 3 and my escape. I think I have the general artics on my escape now, Love them and they are pretty cheap. You can easily get a set $50 a wheel and $50-60 a tire. Just get the smallest size wheel you can and the narrowest tire that fits.
