My '09 Vibe

Post by nestor92 »

Hey guys, my dad bought me this vibe as a graduation gift over the summer. 2009 Vibe 1.8L. Only things I have done are tint, exhaust tip, and a few extremely minor things such as the front plate. Let me know what you think, and, if you can, give me some modding ideas! I can't find many customized Vibes, especially in Central Florida. I should have new wheels next week, then moving on to lighting.

That's some graduation gift !FYI your Vibe is a 2.4L not a 1.8L. I can tell by the wheel covers that are on there. They are the ones that are specific to the 2.4L Base models. Since it has the 2.4L, you could get the K&N Typhoon cold air intake for it. Many of us '09-'10 2.4L owners have it and love it. It will give the Vibe a little extra oomph and improve your gas mileage by 1-2mpg, not to mention it looks so much better than the stock air box. Another good modification that many '09-'10 Base model owners have done is adding factory fog lights. Also, if you're so inclined you could add the GT spoiler as well. For more ideas on modifications, including a few "free" ones, check out my Car Domain page. What kind of wheels are you getting? Whatever type you're getting, make sure the bolt pattern is 5 x 114.3 since you have a 2.4L.Also, have you decided what you want to do as far as lighting goes yet?

Well... wow. I feel slightly retarded My dad test drove 2 Vibes before deciding. He told me it was a 1.8, so i figured either way i have a new car so whatever. After reading the post, I opened the the hood, and looked at the sticker (never bothered because we thought it was a 1.8L for the beggining) and there you have it... 2.4!! Thank you for pointing that out haha! And as for the wheels, I just put on a set of 17" ICW 201's with Nexen N5000 tires (215/45R-17). Not too sure what I want to do with the lighting yet. I was thinking 10000k HIDs, white LED turn signals (I hate the amber color) and blue LED reverse lights, and blue LED domes and accents on the interior...

It would be easy to overlook if you had never looked at the engine and were going by what your dad said. Like I said, the only reason I knew it was a 2.4 is the wheel covers. For whatever goofy reason any '09-'10 Vibe with a 2.4 has a 5 x 114.3 bolt pattern and any '09-'10 Vibe with a 1.8 has a 5 x 100 bolt pattern. Consequently, the 2.4 Bases have different wheel covers than the 1.8 Bases. Post some pictures with the new wheels! And be sure to post pictures when you get the lighting done as well!

10k hids will suck with the reflector style headlights 09's have. I have 5k for lows and 3k for high beams. Wish I would have done 4.3k bulbs for the lows.

Sorry I have taken so long to reply. I've been busy with school and work and I completely forgot. I just ordered a vinyl overlay for the "VVT-i 16V" lettering on the engine cover from grafxwerks. I am also currently in the process of ordering some blue dome lights. I wanted to do blue reverse lights and white turn signals, but I guess those are too iffy in the state of FL. And I would post pics of my wheels.. but I dont know how to embed them in the page haha. I can only put links...

You could probably get away with blue reverse lights... but the cops would probably give you a nice ticket for white signals!Quote, originally posted by nestor92 »but I dont know how to embed them in the page haha.
