first gear tugs

Post by bassrocker032 »

Ok, I've had this problem for a little while but it's only noticeable when I decide to get up ad go from dead stop. The problem is if I do decide to accelerate quickly in first, it'll hit a point where it sort of gallops. The way I can describe it is if you was walking forward and someone was tugging on a rope quickly. It jerks a little then stops, jerks and accelerates, then stops. The acceleration burst only last around 1-2 seconds if that. Any help? Car still shifts fine from first to second, and so on but I've just ran into this problem and need some help.

What rpm does this happen at? Will it do it if you put it in 1 or 2 instead of D? And when's the last time you checked/changed the transmission fluid?

I haven't checked the trans fluid recently, it does it right as it wants to shift to second from first. It never occurs other than at the top of rpm jump right before shifting to 2nd.

ohhhh boy that sounds like a auto tranny problem. Those are never good. sorry to break it to ya man but you may be in need of an expensive transmission rebuild. You gotta find a good shop to do that kinda thing too. Hopefully its not that bad though.

^^ ummm yes what he said. I did not have enough information to know if your transmission was bad so my last statement was a PITA. If that is the problem though it's a bummer.
