I just bought an 03 Vibe GT. I replaced the front brakes/rotors like any other car. On the back, I took the two caliper bolts out but it wouldn't budge. Are the back different from the front? I've got my Haynes manual coming but I really need to get these done. Any body know how? THanks
did you try to blast then with a lubricating penetrant? my favorite is PB blaster. Other than that I dunno I've never removed mine. You can also look in the online service manual for the toyota matrix. Its in the maintenance bay section.
Take the emergency brake off. Don't ask me how I know. Admin note: put the car in reverse to keep the car from rolling.

YeahI realized the guide pins holding the pads on must be taken out. THey were rusted in there pretty bad. I removed them and got the pads and rotors off. I have never done brakes with a setup like this. Usually when I remove a caliper, it is one piece instead of two. THe problem now is I can't just get a new mounting bracket for the caliper but have to buy a complete new one.
