Frontend Droning

Post by left3field »

Hi All.....been a long time since I have been here. Will try to visit more to help out!I have a 2003 Vibe, AWD. There is a consistent droning noise coming from the front end and i can even feel a slight vibration with my feet. It happens at all speeds and weather conditions. The only test I can do to get it to stop is to drive straight and tug the wheel to the left slightly (as if missing a pothole) and I can hear the noise subside for that moment.CV Joint? Bearing? Any thoughts? Thanks to All!!!

I have heard that the frontend wheel bearings are "pressed" in....is this true or can a guy change them?

it's a wheel bearing, mines been doing it for a while now... I have the bearing in hand, I just need to take it apart and have the bearing pressed.. If you can get it apart, "some" of the mom n pop auto shops may press the bearing for you for a small fee.. Otherwise, it's pretty straight forward if you know tools and cars..

Yep, wheel bearing. Just went through it. Fortunately mine was under warranty so no cost. It is however pressed into the race so a machine shop will be a stop for you.Good luck, it is only going to get worse and worse as the miles tick by.Dave
