Best all season for stock 17in rim?

Post by Vibe2009 »

So I live in Canada and winter can be very icy. With my previous car, I had goodyear tripletred all season tires and it works great! The problem with my current car (09 vibe with 17in P215/45), the goodyear tripletread doesnt have the size for it.Anyone have any recommedation for me in terms of all season tires that's decent on ice/snow?I am trying to avoid snow tire at this point as I dont have room for another set of tires.

Please don't avoid snow tires.. You'll thank me for this advice.. A/S tires are a compromise between mediocre wet/dry/warm traction and mediocre cold/snow/ice traction..

I'm gonna have to go with Sublimewind on this one.Snow tires not only offer better traction when you want to go forward but they also offer better grip when you want to brake as well. All seasons tires become to hard to be effective on ice below 0c degrees and the best brakes in the world won't help you if your tires can't bite down on the ice in an emergency stop.Something like a set of General Altimax Arctic shouldn't be too expensive and will offer you better grip than any all season tires can.

Keep the all seasons in the closet and bring them out in the spring!!!And I'll remind you of this....Quote, originally posted by Vibe2009 »I do believe our vibe isn't very good in riding though snow~Today, I attempted to drive to Tim Horton (is Canadian version of Krispy Kreme) for lunch, but only to get stuck in my back alley~ We got like 5cm of fresh snow...A dude with his F150 4x4 pull me out effortlessly to the front of our house~ Still not sure if I can drive it to work tomorrow...Here is a shoot of my car after it got pull out by a truck... So learn from last year and get the winter tires!!!!!
