Confused about Wheel size.. 2007 Vibe..

Post by MaxSteel »

I am trying to buy winter tires this year, and I have the option of buying a set of alum wheels (and used once winter tires)from a buddy. I am confused whether or not they will work (came off a sunfire)?Details: 205/55/16 : 5x100 with a hub centre bore of 57.1Now I went to the site "bolt pattern" and compared them, the only discrepancy is the O.E. Wheel size..sunfire is 15x6and vibe is 14x6what does this mean to me? are they ok to use?thanks in advance.

The Sunfire and the Vibe are 2 completly different car. One is a Chevrolet Cavalier and the other is a Toyota Corolla. You cannot compare them.Your 2007 Vibe has a 5x100 bolt pattern and required 205/55R16 tires.

...correct, I know the size of tire, I got that off my cars tire itself. Also I think the Vibe is a Matrix.. But in this case we're talking about rims, and some cars do have the same sizing for rims.the specs of the tires and wheels appear to be identical. However when I went to that bolt pattern site http://boltpattern.net/Pontiac_Bolt_Patterns.htm , they say the only discrepancy is the O.E. Wheel size. But that is only what I got from that site, and I don't quite understand what the number for OE Wheel size means (for Vibe it is 14x6)All the other specs are the same:my current aluminum rims are 5x100 and 57.1.(the ones from the sunfire are also 5x100 and 57.1)the rubber (all-season) on my vibe is 205/55R16.(the rubber on the sunfire ones is also 205/55R16).

They'll fit. I use two different sets of sunfire rims on mine one winter one summer. I dont know why that site would say to the vibe has 14X6. I dont think the front brakes will clear anything smaller than 15 inches. The only thing is that the hub size is bigger so they wheels will be located by the wheel nuts not the hub. I have access to a machine shop so i just made so custom rings 54.1mm inside 57.1mm outside.
