Looking at DDM Tuning's HIDS...

I am completely new to HIDS and not really sure how they work. I was wondering if these work in my 2003 Vibe..http://www.ddmtuning.com/Produ...r-55Walso, what kind of bulb do I get if I was both hi and low beams?Any suggestions for temperature as well?Thanks!

I would suggest doing a projector retro first before going HID. Stock headlights arent made for HID and you'll blind people.That said, I bought my Grand Ams HID from them. Very good company, but you may have to wait a week or so for them to ship. They are usually swamped with orders.The rest, what Keith said. Stick with 6000K or lower and 35W ballast. Good luck.

What would be the problem if we don't disable the DRLs??

Funny, everyone that sees my HID's are amazed at the cut-off with the stock headlights. As long as they are aimed properly you shouldn't blind oncoming cars too much . However, I do notice dark spots in areas that I wish there was light and I really don't care for that, safety wise. Because of that, my projectors are being made by Ultimate Retrofit (keithvibe) as I type this. The projectors will take care of that problem & will give a much more consistent light spread than just HID's.

No strobe effect at all. Solid bright light.

Victor,First, stay away from the 55w'er's if you are keeping your OE "reflector" housings. Second of all, the lower the color temp, the higher the "usable light output." That's the general rule. I would suggest even lower temp bulbs as they offer less eye strain on long trips. 4000-5000k are ideal in most circumstances.Third, retrofitting HID's into reflector lenses is illegal in most places I know of and is liable to draw unwanted attention (po-po,) as well as for the reasons stated above.Fourth, you are liable not to see as well using HID's in the OE housings due to light scatter (see BlueCrush's post about "dark spots,") and the added wattage of the 55's will make that worse by far!! HID bulbs, envelopes really, center in a different location of the housing than do halogens and therefore don't "focus" well when used in this manner.Fifth: I use DDM's Apexcones in my Mazda3 HB... 55w in the low beams (also illegal) and 35w in the fogs. I had to add a spacer in the OE projector to redirect the light output, though most don't and deal with a more diffused/scattered pattern (again, Blue Crushes problem)... but they're not doing themselves any favors by running them this way. And, I only use my fogs when needed, or for show since they are in a reflector housing. I also aimed both sets a little lower than is normal. OK, back on track w/#5: DDM Tuning is a good company. Very stable, good prices and quality and offer only good product, but they are VERY slow to ship. Be prepared to wait a week or even two before they ship them.I hope after all this that you have Keith set you up a set of headlights using the proper projectors and HID's. Or barring that, that you stick with good quality halogen "envelopes"... such as the Philips X-Tremes.Thanks for playing.

Thanks for everyones input. I really, really appreciate them all. I think for now I'll stick with what I have until I can afford a retrofit on a teenagers salary -_____________-THanks guys!

IIRC Keithvibe sells or has connects to some nice retrofit HID kits.. that are affordable..

Just curious.. anyone know the bulb type for fog lights?
