GM just released official photos. And if the power numbers and interior matches what I am seeing here. I see something that could really put a challenge on the new Corrolla and Civic. What a great looking car, probably the best small car I have seen from GM in years to be honest.
That is waaaaay better looking than the Cobalt. I'd like to see them offer it in a 2-door fast back version too, like the Civic.

that is HOTT! I'd consider it...Quote »The kicker? The 2011 Chevy Cruze will be built at GM's plant in Lordstown, OH where the current Cobalt and Pontiac G5 are built. Though it'll be built right in our own backyard, the Cruze reportedly won't be available in the U.S. for at least a year or two. It'll be on sale in Europe next year, but won't be here til it's a 2011 model it seems.
I like these photos, but I'd really like to see a profile view from the side. I am way "stoked' about the heritage lines from the new Malibu, because I think that is one that Chevy definitely got right.

That stinks, but look at it this way: The Europeans get to be the beta testers, by the time it's here they should have had a chance to work out the new car bugs.

No wonder it's so visually appealing to so many of us GenVibers. It has many of the elements of the Gen 1(2003-04)/Gen 1.5(2005-2008) Vibe's front end, slightly rearranged to look like the current generation Chevy.D-shaped grille opening moved down, not splitFlush-mounted grille (Gen 1.5) (Chevy uses ovals, Pontiac uses hexagons)Recessed headlights with 'pointy' trailing edges Foglights separate from main grille elementsDistinct hood line that sweeps away from the grille

And hopefully they get a really early start to the 2010 MY so it's sometime early next year. They unveiled a foam model of the car yesterday at Lordstown. Looks pretty real to be a fake car.

GM is saying it will be a high quality small car, so let's hope we can take their word for it and it will be better. Not that I thought the Cobalt was a terrible car, and it's certainly light years ahead of the Cavalier. If I had to do shopping for a car today, I'd learn how to drive a stick and put a Cobalt XFE on my list.I wonder if Pontiac will get a version of this? Haven't heard, I doubt it since the G5 was a stopgap measure to begin with. The more I see it, the less fond I am of the split front end treatment on these new Chevrolets. Although this one isn't as bad as the new Malibu's schnoz. I'd hazard a guess that a Pontiac would be a little better looking up front.

I like the new split front end Chevy is using. I think the new Chevys have an agressive look to them. I think they are some of the best looking cars Chevy has made in a long time.

I think if I ever owned a Chevy the first thing I would do would be to color the badge a satin finished silver. The gold just doesn't go with today's styling.
If this car is aimed for the Corrolla & Civic I hope GM is aiming high. I have had a Civic & Corolla ( Vibe ) as daily drivers & they are very reliable cars. Yes the cruze looks great, but will get great MPG & be reliable at the same time?

yes it does look nice but, mostly for the sake of whining, I'm going to say that the styling looks a little heavy. The fender flares are nice. One thing that comes to mind is a retro-futuristic streamliner or steam engine machine and thats pretty cool. I dunno if I'm wrong for saying this but, I'd just like them to make it look happier!! Maybe GM needs to adopt big Mazda grin? I'm reminded everytime I look at my vibe how cool it looks though! No other car on the road (other than 09 vibes) really looks quite like it. I'd like to see GM put out more cars that have the really cool fender flares and flowing shapes similar to whats on the sides of the 09 and up vibes. After two and a half years of ownership I'm still affraid of parking next to older looking cars or going into tight parking spaces for fear of getting dings on it's beauteous sides!
there is once in my neighborhood (Mexico Plates) and they actually look Far better than the Caviler and the Cobalts do! looks like chevy has hit the small car nail on the head with this one. i like it, i cant wait to see the sport version.

Pontiac won't be getting a new version of anything.
