I joined up here due to what we think is an A/C leak in my Girlfriend's 2008 Vibe and thought I'd say hi.I'm not honestly a vibe lover like some of the people around here. It has little problems that annoy me. The cup holders in the front aren't big enough, one is smaller than the other, so if we both get the 99 cents Arizona tea, only one can be in the cup holder. The passenger seat is smaller than the driver seat, either that or it's shaped differently. I can fit in the driver seat just fine, but in the passenger seat I am very uncomfortable and something is up my back the whole ride. That said, though, I was glad and surprised to see a Toyota engine under the hood. The weird thing is, my Girlfriends old car was a Pontiac, and my car was a Chevy Lumina. Our cars had the same engine and same problem. On those models it had a known gasket problem which causes the car to leak / overheat and the top end could blow. Mine had the problem and we got it fixed, short time later it happened again and we got a junkyard engine installed for $700 bucks. My Girlfriends car had the head gasket leak, so we drove it into the dealer. They told us at least $1000 to fix, but we didn't have the money, so we looked around and she liked the Vibe, so we thought why not go for something else. It was her first new car.A few weeks later my car had the leak again! Previous times, I had the help of my Mom's Husband. He got some deals because he did a lot of work with this guy. He did all his work vehicles at this guy, but they moved to Hawaii. I didn't have money and my Girlfriend was nice enough to co-sign a loan for me. I picked up a 09 Corolla. My first new car too.So here we are with the same engines again.

Not quite, the 08 Vibe had the 1ZZ while the 09 Corolla has the 2ZR... 1.8 litre yes... but that's about it (you'll see when you change the oil)...But welcome again to Genvibe!!!

You'll find this site helpful and overall friendly but I had to chuckle when I read your post, most significantly over the quote above I isolated out.Sadly the quote from your post sounds like a line from a Judge Judy episode where the ex is suing for her money after the car is repossessed!!!!!Dave
The cupholders are perfect. One fits every coffee mug I've ever put in it, and the smaller one fits a 500ml water bottle or 355ml can (the most common sizes). Oversized cans and "biggie size" take out restaurant cups thankfully have no place in my car.

No, you're right.. we didn't buy because of a cup holder.Someone mentioned posting pics of the vibe.. it's not too pretty. Some of yours on here look really nice. Ours is the grey color, but it's dirty. The hood got scratched somehow, and someone dinged a curb (okay me) because someone idiot had their high beams on coming at me and I turned a corner too soon. The plastic molding on passenger side under doors came off.Just about the only customization we have done is some vinyl decals in the rear window and for some reason there's a stuffed sunflower in the rear window. I'd say stuffed animal so you understand what I mean, but it's not an animal.
