CAI or SRI HELP?

go full CAI.You can always take it off for the winter if you need.

I can install an intake in about 10-15 mins. I've actually timed myself. I used to hit the track and install mine, flash my ECU, run about 6 runs and then go back to stock, reflash ECU and run another 6 runs, or vice versa. I've installed so many of them.... super easy.

SRI = cheaper, more air coming in but the air is very hot due to the surrounding heat of the engine...CAI = hangs lower and further away from the engine. Of course you cannot grab air colder than the ambient air but the outside temp you'll see on your dash is the air temperature of the air going to the engine.STOCK = Air temp going to engine is always 2-3°C (4-6°F) hotter than the ambiant air.

so if i throw the cold air intake on there, will my check engine light go on?

There's a good chance that the check engine will go on because it will think there's a leak on the intake. Happens to me every time when I switch from stock to CAI and back for winter...Also, when you will install your CAI, it is much easier if you remove the bumper fascia to fit all the tubing.And the first time you will start your car, because the battery will be disconnected for some time, you will have a very rough idle, it's normal.Let the car run on idle for 5 minutes, then go on the highway doing some good acceleration.Your engine will adapt after a few miles and go back to normal.Have fun!

If so, you will just get a too lean code (more air than stock... duh!)I never removed my front bumper or any other part on my car to install/reinstall an intake. I've installed one on my 01 Tundra (pre-Vibe), my 03 Vibe GT, Mavrik's 04 base Vibe, a friend's 05 Matrix, my 05 Legacy GT (after Vibe), my 08 STI (which I swapped out on a regular basis for test n tune), and another into my friends 05 Legacy GT Wagon. Never had to take the bumper off... granted, on the Vibe, it is a bit more of a PITA to snake the intake tube, but once you got it figured out (first time will take longer.. like 45 mins to an hour), it'll be simple.
