I was in the middle of a remote start installation, and as I wired the 12v ignition wire to the Black 15A wire on the Ignition harness, i accidentally shorted something. Ive checked fuses in the engine bay and couldnt find any problems, now im going to check the pesky ones under the dash. Does anyone know what else could be a fix? The White ignition wire (25A is still reading a healthy 12.5 volts, but the black is less than half a volt and draining. Thanks

I take it you got the box? As far as the wires in the ignition column, the main fuses for those are the ones under the hood. If all those are good, maybe check the fusible links, which I think are right there with the fuses. You should also be able to confer with your Vibe's Owner's Manual to see what each of those fuses is for. Hope you figure it out!

New discovery, the starter's main voltage terminal, when meter tested with the battery's ground reads a good 12 volts. So the problem has to be between that black 15a wire in the ignition harness, and the starter trigger terminal...

the 25A White wire gets power from the AM1 fusethe 15A Black wire gets power from the AM2 fuseBoth the AM1 and AM2 fuses are in the under-dash fuse block. Check the AM2 fuseThere's a wire that runs from the battery to the starter, so 12V on that means the batterry has a charge and not much else
After looking at the huge electrical repair manual, I traced the problem back to that AM2 fuse, so if only i couldve read that comment earlier i wouldve saved hours of headache. haha, thanks though. Ive since replaced that fuse and power has been restored, though at some point ive messed with my starter. So i pulled that, hooked it up for a bench test, and the motor will move the gear into place, but it doesnt spin it. So im headed to autozone for a test and possible replacement.

starter passed autozone's tests, i removed all of the remote start kit components, reconnected all the factory wiring, charged my battery 100%, and it still wont start. Im beginning to think that my battery no longer holds a charge, unless its plugged into the charger it drains to less than 20% after only a couple attempts to start it...

Quote, originally posted by jscherf92 »it still wont start. Does the starter engage? Does the engine not turn over? Does the engine turn over but there's no ignition? Does absolutely nothing happen when you turn the key? Does it make a clicking sound? Does it make any sound, or no sound? 'it still won't start" covers a lot of territory
Yeah i shouldve specified, ive given up on the remote start installation (for now) and my battery has been dying alot lately, of course trying to start the car drains it alot worse, but im considering a dying battery at this point.
