How to I verify whether the VIBE has Stability control?

Post by kidmann »

Hey guys, there is an used car I am interested in (06 Pontiac vibe). The seller claimed that the car has stability control, is there any way I can verify that?

well, i have an '09 and there is a light that briefly comes on when the key is turned to the "on" and/or "run" position. there is also a button that disables the stability control...im not sure how the '06 is set up though. i assume it is similar. turn on the key and look for the light to come on.hope i helped.

Get the VIN number from the windshield tag, and enter it in the link Carrie (J_TO_ENVY) posted in the first entry in this thread --> http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=41634If the car has SRS, it should be listed.

well if one were to check the owners manual and look up StabiliTrak, it tells about the indicator on the instrument panel that lights up when the engine is started. The indicator is a car with little squiggle lines under the wheels. You could also find a nice big empty parking lot, drive the vibe in a pretty tight circle and keep driving round and round. Next, keep increasing the speed. Eventually the vib will become unsure about itself and it lets you know this by crying out with beeps of disapproval! It will also put it's nanny tech into full effect, laying on the brakes and cutting off the throttle to put an end to your shenanigins. Using this method you not only learn if there's stability control on the car but, it's also being tested out to make sure it works.

There are a few ways to find out, the fun way, losing control of you vehicle the car will beep and a light will flash. Or, a safer way is to the left of the steering wheel (on first gen Vibes, this would include your '06) there is a spot for 3-4 buttons, the hatch glass release button, and (if you have it) the button to turn off the stability control.

Thanks all for your response.Based on my research that "trac off" button is only for traction control. And by having TC doesn't guarantee Stabilitrak is installed right?I rather not do the "parking lot", I'm not exactly a good driver to begin with.
