Skunked again

Post by KNINE »

Shep didn't learn his lesson the first time he messed with a skunk. He got sprayed again this morning. I got this solution off the internet. If you find yourself in this stinky situation give it a try. It works.Choose skunk odor remover that will help you get rid of the skunk smell on your dog. Since you must act fast when a skunk strikes, it’s nice to have everything you need on hand. The following solution has worked for many people and is a favorite among home remedies: mix 1 qt. of 3% hydrogen peroxide, ¼ to ½ cups baking soda and 1 – 2 tsp. dish soap. (It’s important not to store this in a closed container since the mixture of these ingredients creates pressure and could burst.) Another thing to keep in mind is the bleaching effect hydrogen peroxide could have on your dog’s coat. If this is a concern, try substituting vinegar for the peroxide.

Hydrogen Peroxide and Baking Soda does an AMAZING job at removing the smell. I've used it before!Sadly in dog world, you have the dogs that get sprayed once and that does it for them, no more of those black / white kitties for me!! and then you've got the stupid ones, Look another black / white kitty!!I've had both types, I prefer the smart ones who only want the ordeal once!PS, keep it out of the ears and eyes!!!Dave

After the first time I learned to wear gloves because it burns the crap out of your hands. (Winter + dry cracked hands + peroxide = bad)I hope your dog is smelling nice and fresh by now!!

He woke me . up at 4:00 am whimpering. One whiff and I knew what his problem was. The dog door gets close at night from now on. Now that I think about it, I'm not much smarter than him. The last time he got sprayed was because I let the dog door open at night.
