2005 Vibe Fuel Pump Removal - no screw type

Post by Corsair24x4 »

Hey guys, ive got a 05 vibe and the fuel pump is dead, thats what the dealer said. My pump housing is the white plastic type, with no screw holes....how does it come off? I don't want to force it!I stole this picture from Star_Deciever....this is exactly what my unit looks like. Anyhelp will be appreciated!ThanksCorsair

Only links I can find are here and not sure if they will help much. Hope Joatmon will chime in as he is a guru with a lot of things Vibe related. http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id ... d?id=37896

Disconnect the lines and electrical. Grab the white ribbed ring and turn it counter-clockwise (as I recall), it may be stubborn and some force may be required. Then you should be able to pull the fuel pump out!

Place a towel around the metal floor of the car, if your hands slip you may end up with a nice flesh wound! A hammer and punch might be required to loosen the ring...

Allright guys - thanks for the tip. I had to tap the ribs with a screwdriver and hammer to get it out. The pump I bought is wrong - I have the "L" VIN code, and none of the auto parts stores, even tried the Matrix engine crossovers, have the right pump. I have the 2zz-something version engine. I'm going to try the Toyota and GM dealerships tomorrow. If anyone can send me a link to the right part number that would be great!
