Re-tinting

Post by 09vGT »

Well.. I've run into some unexpected money :D and I'm thinking of having my windows stripped and re-tinted. Right now my windows are 35% front (legal limit for Missouri) and 25% all of the rest, and no brow. I'm definitely going to get a brow done.. but wondering on what percentage I need to get it at. I want the car as dark as possible during the daytime.. so people can't see me. That brings me to re-tinting the rest of the windows (except the front, want to keep it legal). I was thinking of going to like 5%. Anyone know if this is TOO dark? I mean, I don't want to be driving blind at night. Also, anyone know if there is a difference if I did go down to 25% front windows? My home state is Missouri and obviously going down to 25% would be against the law, but I spend most of the week in Arkansas.. where the legal limit is 25% front. I know some get pulled over for dark windows.. and other get away with it.. Whats your advice?I'm also thinking about having my headlamps, fogs, and rear lamps smoked. Not blacked out.. but just smoked. I've been modding VERY slow.. mostly because I'm a POOR college student .. So far I've just got the windows tinted and all of the Pontiac arrow head's with black over lays. How do ya think the tinted lights would look too?

I think 5% is way too dark My rear window and the litle ones in the back are all 15% and it's tolerable. You may want 10% if you're wantin it REAL dark. And I think the smoked lenses would look great! Are you doing it yourself? or having a body shop do it?

Okay.. 10 maybe be better. I'm planning on asking the tint shop if they can do it. I want the film that goes over the lenses. This way, if I ever want to take it off it'll be a lot easier to remove!

i feel my tint has already faded and may re-tint also if can save up some moneyin my opinion smoking the rear lamps is dangerous and attracts the police more then tinted windows

Quote, originally posted by waveresponder »in my opinion smoking the rear lamps is dangerous and attracts the police more then tinted windowsI have complete hatred for people who "black out" their lights; not the people, just their choice. No offense to anyone on here !!.. I have almost had NUMEROUS rear-end accidents because I could BARELY see their break lights. I'm just going to get them lightly smoked.. I don't want to be rear-ended!!

i agree that 5% is too dark. night driving would yield no visibility.is your current tint faded, bubbling, cracked, discolored, or anything else negative? if not, you can get tint over the existing. its a cheaper route and, in my experience, looks just as good; i wasn't able to tell it was two layers.also, in my state, a driver is able to get a note from an optometrist if the driver has light-sensitive eyes...just like me! you might still get pulled over for dark tint but you can't be given a ticket. check out that option too.as far as a brow, the only regulation i know of is the size. i.e. you cant go past the line/arrow on the window. beautiful thing about my 08 is that it had no arrow. my 09 does though.

Same thing goes here. If the doc says you can have dark tint, you're golden

yah 5% is too dark, but I think it just takes some getting use to. My back windows are 15% but still felt it was too light so added a second layer of 50% to it which brings it to about 7.5% It doesn't seem too dark but then again, my fronts are only 70% tinted so it doesn't feel too dark =/

I have 20% around the back and 50% on front. I don't think I would ever go darker than this.
