This 'Bird is a friends, he took it to the paint shop ($2000), they did a crappy job, he doesn't care to go after the guy (I'd personally light him on fire) but what can he do to help the paint?Highlights:The passenger's door is cloudyIn the sun, you can see scratches in a swirl pattern all over the carThe paint guy wet sanded it due to orange peel and runsIt's coming off in some spots as wellWhat can we do to get this paint looking good? Some pictures here...http://www.thirdgen.org/techbo....html

All I really know is "wetsand and buff" but it's said over and over in that thead.I feel bad for your friend tho 8( I'd probably be so pissed i'd tear if my car came out like that, but maybe I just like it too much
I don't know if his paint can be saved. I would end the friendship. I couldn't be friends with somebody who had paint like that. Seriously, he should make the painter fix it. It sounds like most of the damage is in the primer. Bad prep leads to bad paint.

For the $2000 he spend, get them to do it right or refund the $$$!!!Quote, originally posted by VforVIBE »He doesn't care to go after the guy (I'd personally light him on fire) ]Maaco could've done a better job... Drill it into your friends head that he needs to do something, especially after dropping 2 large on a crappy paint job!!! (Light him on fire LOL!!! Orange housepaint his car too!!!)
Your "friend" needs to grow a pair, even if he is a she, and demand a proper paint job or a complete refund!!To fix this car is now going to cost 3 - 4 thousand dollars!!! This car must be stripped, properly prepped, properly primed and then properly painted all over again. I'm sure the strip part wasn't part of the previous job! "He" also needs to know that paint has "systems" and that you can't take a primer from manufacturer "A" and base coat from Manufacturer "B" and clear coat from "C" and expect it to work. If you are going to paint with Dupont, use ALL dupont products and in the same line as well. Same thing goes for any other major paint supply brand. They all don't play well together! Paint is NOT just paint any more.Go with "him" and prepare to fight for what is right, both by talking to the owner (keep your cool) and through the legal system.Dave
yikes. I wouldn't have signed for the work at all, and if they gave a hard time about it I'd show up the next day with a lawyer. $2k is a huge amount of money to me, and I think I'd die a bit inside every time I went to unlock my door and had to look at that bizarro "fix" they pulled.

I'd go after the painter. It's a terrible paint job for $2,000. Last fall when my Vibe got hit, I paid $350 to have the body work and repainted the right rear quarter panel and you can't tell that it was ever damaged or repainted.

Just have them repaint it. He doesnt have to go over there & be nasty about it.....just firm about it.
