Is anyone here crazy enough to let people smoke in their vibe? I am a smoker and my car has not been niccofied yet! People get mad, "Why can't I smoke in here? that's supid!"..."because my car is phat as hell and you're not stinking it up and puting burns holes in my beloved seat!"

I don't let anyone eat, drink or smoke in my car. The only person who eats is my 2 year old son in his car seat. If he drops any crumbs from his animal crackers, the land in his car seat. Easy cleanup. As far as smoking, I don't smoke so no one else can even ask to in my Vibe.

Eating in the car is allowed, as long as you make sure that anything you top, you pick up. Smoking ... ... ... ...Well, let me say: In the house I am living in this next school year, smoking won't even be allowed on the PROPERTY that I am living on. If you are over for a party, or whatever, you can smoke, if it's in the street.*grumbles about smokers and blah blah blah...*Sorry, but I am developing smoke-induced asthma and it kinda sucks while cycling, so I am a little bitter that people continue to take years off their lives with cancer sticks, not to mention the fact that I can't stand the smell/sight/thought of anything having to do with smoking or the like and ... dkfjhadjfdfhkdjf/patiently waiting for the day when smoking is no longer allowed in public, or even private, hell, when cigarettes are banned permenantly.
I took a friend of mine (who's a smoker) for a ride once and he suggested I should take the lighter out and hide it before someone tries lighting up.I assured him that anyone who reached for the lighter would not keep his hand long enough to light the cig.
i took the ash tray out of my car, it is now in use in the house. it works great if people are clumsy (drunk), the lid closes, and you could play catch with it while it's full, if you get really bored

Ditto.....No one smokes in our House or our cars.... My Mom smoked while I was growing up. I said I would never smoke and I never have! Why would I light something and then stick it in my mouth.....ick!

I smoke in mine, but I hate to let others (I know thats not kewl). if somethings gonna git f-ed up I'd perfer to be the one to do it! HOwever I'm trying to quite so...fingers crossed it shouldn't be an issues much longer.
I smoke in mine (im the neatest smoker I know). Butts go out the window not in the ash tray and Jax does the vacuum cleaning job on the regular.Sometimes I let people smoke in mine but then again not many people ride with me. But I know one thing if anyone burns a hole Get ready for a royal (removed) whippin
Don't smoke, never have, never will. No one else can smoke in the car. Eating and drinking are ok, but I say upfront, if you spill and stain, you're paying whatever it costs to take it out. Most people then opt for a snack and a bottle of water...I also added scotch guard recently, so hopefully that will help repel stains...though it's too late to sve me from that oil stain...

no eating. only growns up can drink in car( little kids spill stuff besides the way i drive) i smoke so yeah i would let somebody else smoke but it hasnt come up yet.

I smoke in mine as long as no one else is in the car... as for smell it isn't really there, windows are cleaned every 2 days and never never light a cig with the window up. as for anyone else nope no smoking, I don't smoke with other people in the car simply because if something happens I want it to be my fault,,,, I don't feel like doing a jail term for a burn hole.

non smokers have a lot of animosity towards smokers. how often do people complain about bottle rocket sticks and paper littering the ground? how many people here don't light fireworks at least on the 4th?

Ok I lied. I'm posting more.quote:non smokers have a lot of animosity towards smokers. how often do people complain about bottle rocket sticks and paper littering the ground? how many people here don't light fireworks at least on the 4th?I have animosity towards ANYONE who litters. It just happens that I already have a personal vendetta against smoking, and couple it with this and you just feel twice as much of my wrath What I find ironic is how we car people are always talking about breathing better. When a car breathes better, it gets better performance. That's why we do things like add better filters, cold air intakes and short rams. Better breathing = better performance.Yet, sadly, they don't apply the same rules to themselves. Continue to smoke, which clogs up your "filters" (lungs) in horrible ways and just isn't a good thing, ya? If you smoke by yourself, or are with people that don't mind it, fine, I won't fault you at that. As soon as I start getting the smell of it around me, or I see your butts on the ground, that's when I get mad. I said before, smoking is leading to problems for my breathing that I normally wouldn't be getting if people didn't smoke. Perhaps I have a reason to be angry.
Most definitely.I'm not allergic though. I just never started. Wish I knew what my parents did with me to keep me off drugs, booze, and cigarettes so I could do it with my kids (when I have them someday).

Harsh yes, but hey, it'll only take ONE person to mess up and then no one will do it again. /sarcasm

I'm with you on this topic Geo, my feelings exactly. I hate when people are smoking while driving because they flick their ashes and cigarettes out into the wind. This just isn't cool for so many reasons: 1) I ride a motorcycle and there is nothing worse than riding behind a car and having a "flying cigarette" or a "cloud of ashes" hit you in the face because some a**hole refuses to dirty his/her ashtray!!!!! 2) in certain circumstances it just might start a fire 3) re-read reason # 15) obviously the litter factor, not good for the environment 6) re-read reason # 17) It makes small children who witness this act think that littering is okay or acceptable8) re-read reason # 19) you just might get a ticket if your "flying cigarette" happens to land on or near a police car10) If you're unlucky enough to be driving in front of me while I'm riding my motorcycle behind you and you are guilty of this behavior, I will catch you at the very next light or stop sign and trust me on this you don't want that to happen!!!!!

I have never had anyone request to eat in the car either, but when it does eventually come up, I guess it will depend on the person and what they want to eat. I think the youngest person that has ever been in my Vibe is me, so I don't have to worry about kid-crumbs.
If anyone smokes near my house or car, I will assume you are on fire and soak you with water. Smokers are a dying breed, literally. Unfortunately, this disgusting habit also kills and mames those nearby. Take away the 'death' factor of tobacco, and it is still a stupid ridiculous vice. Think about it. Simply put, tobacco use is the world's largest form of mass suicide, by far.As for flicking the butts out the window, I hate that. I've had lit butts land on my hood. Nice. Only a smoker would think that is OK. They are ignorant by nature.
*striking a match*I'm the type of person that has respect for non-smokers and smokers.Smoking is linked to personal freedom, and the rights of others not to be exposed to second-hand smoke.

oxygen is not flamable this is a common misconception. you need three things for a fire heat fuel and oxygen take any of these away and you have no fire. I will meake a fire burn more but o2 plus a match doesnt equal fire. to illistrate this our instructor opened up an o2 bottle reg. and held a lit lighter in front of it. No explosion or anything. scared the **** out of us but it tought us about the fire triangle in a dramatic fashion. oh yeah btw i hope pa passes a no smoking law like NY

Well, I'd be lying if I told you guys that no one has smoked in my Vibe! Me personally I don't, but a friend of mine, pushes the issue, went she rides in the Vibe! I let her once! I keep telling her that she needs to quit, and me personally I think that it takes away from any attractive women, that smokes! But, never the less I let her smoke in my Vibe! As for the lighter, I have my lighter in the center console, because my radar detector is plugged in. As for the ash tray, I use it for loose pocket change! I fill it, and then dump it into a larger cup in my room! (like Atwork) I'm saving for my Las Vegas trip in December! ( http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=4814)

I typed out this long speech but changed my mind I will say only this:smokers aren't the only ones messing up the air go breath the crap comming out your tail pipe on your vibe and tell me how good that is for you. people in glass houses should not throw stones
Any discussion of smoking is likely to bring out a lot of strong opinions. discussion of whether people should be smoking or not probably belongs more in "off Topic". It's a powerful addiction, congrats to those that have quit, good luck to those that are trying, patience and understanding to the militant non-smokers. Yank, I understand the desire to toss cigarette butts out the window, but this can be a serious fire hazard. I'd hate to be the one to cause a wildfire that burnt down someone's house, or worse, one that killed someone. Get a coke bottle, put a little water in it, and drop the butts in there. You can screw the lid on to prevent spills/smells, and it keeps your fire under control.Back to the question:quote:Is anyone here crazy enough to let people smoke in their vibe? There is no smoking in my Vibe. It's still my new car, and I want it to stay that way. I'm not worried about the risk of burns as much as I don't want the smell. Sometimes I still get some of that new car smell, especially if it's been in the sun with the windows closed for a while.
No smoking in the car. I love when people take a ride and when they first get in they say "Damn still smells new!" But unfortunatly a friend of mine sometimes sprays cologne on himself before he exits the car and that really pisses me off. My car smells like a 2 dollar hooker for the next three days.
OT Read the package! I am absolutely sick and tired of all of these whining babies who are in support of suing the tobacco companies because THEY chose to buy cigarettes, THEY chose to light the cigarette, THEY chose to inhale (well, Clinton didn't but hey!) but it is the tobacco company who is to blame because THE SMOKER chose to ignore the warning on the package! Okay, so let's say that THE SMOKER can't read. Well, it doesn't take an IQ of 100 to know that inhaling hot smoke into your lungs is probably not a good thing. What happened to responsibility? We are responsible for our own happiness. The first time we look to someone else or some entity to ensure our health, happiness and prosperity we are doomed to lose our identity and ultimately our freedom. If those people who support the attack on the tobacco companies truly believe that alcohol is not next or fast food is not next, then they are dumber than those people who smoked themselves to death. Done My wife and I both smoke, but not in our vehicles. The vibe is almost a year old and still smells like new and will stay that way for the respect of the next owner or any passengers.

I'll agree with Rob and say that I can't fault any of you responsible smokers, I just hope that ya don't get any problems later on in life Let me also agree with rasermon: Personal responsibility seems to be thrown out the doors these days. I'll also be damned the day they bring back prohibition (What? I'm almost 21...) People need to be responsible, and stop blaming everything else for their problems. >_

You know I never throw my butts out the window. I have one tobacco peve that really grosses me out though. I have literally almost come to killing terms because of it. I CANNOT stand someone who spits tobacco out the window while driving. Nothing is worse than having a big glob of spitty chewing tobacco hitting your car or even or yourself. I was at a light one night (not in the vibe) when some redneck ******* spit right on the side of my car. I proceded to roll down my window and fling my whole supersized Mcdonalds cup full of coke right through his window. He didn't know what to do. So like any redneck would he jumped out of the car and started threatning me. This is when Mr. Colt 1911 was pulled out from my glove box and pointed in his direction.(I have a concealed weapons permit) He then turned around and jumped back in his car and sped off. About 10 miles down the road I was pulled over by a state trooper because the guy had called the cops. I explained to the officer what had happened and showed him my permit. He thought is was pretty disguting as well. He told me perhaps I jumped a little bit far when I threw the Coke into the rednecks car. He told me to have a good evening and try to stay cool if a situation like that would ever arise again. It just made me soooooo mad! Hell, I am getting mad thinkin about it now.

No one ever smokes my my vehicle. even smokers who smoke before they get in have to wait about 10 mins for the smoke to leave their clothes. I hate the smell; it burns my nostrils and eyes. as for eating, i allow only certain people. all drinks must have a closed lid, preferably a screw type in case it does fall, no spill. i don't like fireworks, so that's not an issue for me. if people want to smoke, that's there perogative. just don't smoke near or around me. i don't want to hear about health problems due to smoking such as shortness of breath, coughing, emphazema, etc. i have a guy at work that calls in every other month sick because he stayed up all night due to shortness of breath. he called in one day last month (again), whining about it and my boss told him "take the cigarette out of your mouth, Keith. you have one hour to get to work or find another job." That is just not an excuse when it's his doing.i find smoking revolting myself, but know many people who do smoke. it is addictive, and depending on the individual, more so for some than others. I once dated a guy who used to smoke, do drugs (crack), and drink. He decided one day after almost ODing, he would quit. he never smoked (at least for 2 years), picked up a crack pipe, or drank again. We called him Crack Pipe Jimmy for awhile after learning this. yeah, he was a real winner; that relationship lasted real long. (sarcasm) My brother smokes and he can't quit. He's tried several times but still unsuccessful. he knows he's slowly killing himself but accepts the consequences to his actions.
