I found through searching that Jackie879 used a chrome covered amber bulb but there is no mention of brand.I hate the "egg yoke" look of amber bulbs in clear lenses so I replaced my front signal bulbs with silverstars but was not able to find the rear. I did purchase a 992/7440A Pilot bulb to try. It's chrome like, but is listed at 27w instead of 22w and it would not seat fully down into the socket. What are you finding that fits that is silverstar like, or chrome, but still flashes amber?
This might not have been the smartest move. I put in Silverstars about 8 months ago to replace the burned out stock bulbs on my 07. Today, I put in some new Phillips bulbs to replace the burned out silverstars!! What a waste of money for such a short burn time!! I had previously read about what short duration bulbs they were but thought that was a bunch of hooey and probably improperly installed by touching the bulb during installation....Nope!! The bulbs have a short life.I don't drive all that much either. We'll see how the Phillips burn.Dave
Personally, I had great luck with the Silver Star bulbs I had in the fog lights, low beams and high beams on both mine and my mom's '09 GTs. They were still going strong when I removed them after over a year (I removed them because I was wanting to go back to all regular halogen bulbs). Also, I don't know if you're aware of this or not dayday, but Sylvania no longer makes the Silver Star signal bulbs that have the bluish/purplish look when unlit and are amber when lit. They now only make these ones that are very pale blue and are white when lit (good for reverse lights, etc. but not good for turn signals that are legally supposed to be amber). Just thought I'd share this with you.I have Stealth Auto chrome amber bulbs in the front and rear turn signals on both mine and my mom's '09 GTs. They are a little pricey at $26.96 a pair, but that includes a lifetime warranty and the 7440s for the rear turn signals are exactly the same as the factory bulbs only chrome. Before going with Stealth Auto, I had ordered some cheap chrome amber bulbs on eBay, but the 7440s didn't fit because they had a plastic base instead of a glass base like the factory bulbs. Also, the color amber that the cheap eBay bulbs lit up looked terrible. The Stealth Auto bulbs look exactly the same as the factory bulbs when lit or flashing.

Thanks, I'll check out Stealth for the rear signals. I did find silverstars for the front signals and they are in already. I had the same issue with Pilot bulb I bought, it had a plastic base instead of glass like the stock rear bulb.I don't plan on changing out the headlights at this time, but I've always got several years out of every silverstar headlight I've used.
I just thought I'd let you know about the Silver Star bulbs you put in the front turn signals, so someday down the road when they burn out you won't go crazy trying to find something that no longer exists . I spent a lot of time trying to find them earlier this year with no luck (they were on Amazon, eBay, etc. but they wanted quite a bit for them so I gave up on getting them). Sylvania's new bulbs (the ones that are pale blue and light up white) are great for the reverse lights on the '09-'10 Vibes though . They can be found at your local Auto Zone for $7.99 a pair. Here's a picture of the bulb unlit in the reverse light (FYI the reverse lights are 921 bulbs):I know the price of the Stealth Auto bulbs probably turns a lot of people away from them, but they really are the best chrome amber bulbs I've ever used. I used Pilot Automotive ones in my Sunfires which worked fine and all, but like you said, the problem us '09-'10 owners have is those darn 7440 bulbs in the rear turn signals. They have to have a glass base or they just won't fit. Here's what the Stealth Auto bulbs look like in the rear turn signals (unlit):Whatever you end up going with, be sure to post pictures after you get them installed !

Reading these threads made me go out and look at my stock turn signals for the first time ever... wow, the orange bulb really *does* look like an egg yolk, especially in the front lights (it's harder to see through the wavy plastic in the back. This may be a mod I end up doing.

With the way our headlights and taillights are designed, it just looks so much cleaner to not have that orange reflection, but still be able to stay legal with the amber light. Here's what the Stealth Auto bulbs look like in the front turn signals:My Stealth Auto bulbs have been installed since February 20 and I predict they will last a long time since Stealth Auto uses long life bulbs. Very well worth the $25.00 (what I paid when I bought them back in February) a pair in my opinion.

I got my chrome/amber bulbs on ebay, but unfortunately I don't remember the brand or the seller I got them from. A quick search will turn up a bunch of them, though. Also, the Silverstar front turn signal bulbs are still available on Amazon, but they only have one pair left. I love these and am disappointed they don't make them anymore. http://www.amazon.com/Sylvania...r=8-1

Also, the package they came in said they had a "siver coating" (notice I left the 'l' out of silver, well... so did whoever designed the packaging ). Fortunately I was able to get a refund which went toward the Stealth Auto bulbs.I was bummed when I discovered Sylvania had quit making the Silver Star signal bulbs as well. Although, once I discovered they didn't make them in 7440 I wouldn't have gotten them anyway because I am (removed) and need everything to match .
