Water leaking

OK, I know this has been covered, BUT, I have looked and cannot find where the water is leaking into the car. It is all over the passenger side. I know people were saying there was a tube off, or something not right under the dash, I have searched and cannot find the piece for the life of me. Can someone post pics of where this water may be coming in so I can find out if that is the problem I am having. It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, and let me apologize in advance for all those people who love to jump down my throat for reposting.

If this water only occurs after running the A/C, then it is coming from the a/c/ drains. Not at all of a concern - all cars with A/C will do this.

It is leaking in and soaking the passenger side of the car. It is of concern. If it was leaking outside I wouldn't care.

http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=10509it's on the passenger side under the glove box toward the centre consol. pull the carpet away and (if memory serves me correctly) you'll see a 'black plastic box' and a black rubber hose about 4 or 5 inches long travelling up/down (vertical). mine is attached with white zip ties on either end....hope that helps!

I've been fortunate enough to not have this problem, but seeing how I'm stuck at home for 3 weeks with nothing to do, I went exploring.I found 2 possible hoses that could be the one in question. I tested both. I turned the engine on, ran the A/C full blast for about 10 minutes, hoping to get some condesationary flow, with no luck. My suspicion is it's not hot enough to generate much condensation. Anyway, I'm pretty sure the first one is the one they're talking about, but the second one could be it too.First one: Pull back the carpet to the rear left of the passenger foot area. There are two retainer clips. One on the tranny, one on the firewall. It's between the two of them. You'll see this hose:Mine was pretty secure on there, but yours may not be. A zip tie or hose clamp will fix it for ya.The other hose, is higher up in the dash. Get on your back, and look up behind the ECM. You'll see a 4 wire harness attached to the firewall. It's directly above that:Mine was VERY loosely attached, but again, haven't had any problems. Still went ahead and zip tied it on there for extra security.So I dunno which one it is, but might wanna check out both...

i haven't had this problem but i'm pretty sure it's the first picture. i have white zip ties on either end.i'm not sure what the hose in the second picture is for..

If you put a zip tie near the body-side of the hose, it will cut off drainage and cause it to back up. The hose is connected at the upper end, but then runs through the body, and just hangs out there for drainage purposes. It's not attached to anything on the other end.

Yep!!! The first one was almost completely gone. I came close to slipping through the hole in the floor. I reattached it. That should take care of it. Thanks again!!

The one that caused my problem did not have a place for a ziptie on the bottom, it just fed through to the undercarraige and out.

Re: (Mr. Poopypants) (silverawd26) Eh... Get a hose clamp (compression Style) that theey use for small fuel lines on lawnmowers and such. Why? A zip tie is 1: Cheaper, 2: Easier, 3: Plenty effective for the job

This hose somehow came off on my car this weekend and it SOAKED my carpet! I was out there last night with a wet vac sucking up water and hoping like everything that I don't wind up with a musty or mildew smell in the car. That is awful. There was so much water that it had soaked the right REAR carpet as well.

This site is very helpful. I have not found an answer to this:What if I have a stinky smell when I turn on the ac and not much water is dripping from under the car-I already checked the 2 spots for ac hoses(thanks to you guys posting pics on here )and the ac seems exceptionally cold since yesterday.?????I have no clue.I have smelled the bad smell since shortly after I bought the car dec 2004( a friend spilled coffee with cream all over against the window- thought the window was down and it wasn't) so i always thought that was the stinky smell, but it has gone on and on. I have to run the car and ac with the windows open for a bit before it seems to go away-but it's right back the next day. I've sprayed lysol, liquid anti fugal live bacteria etc. and still the smell-now I am wondering if i have a clogged ac drain hose- but I don't know how to check it.Can anyone help me?

yes and it' s definitely a vinegar smell- I found a couple of posts . I am under warraty so I am taking it in for the hvac sanitizing I read about on here.it is maddening - that smell!!

New guy in town!I had the same leak problem a few weeks ago. Water leaking from around the bolt head (pic #1) and soaking the carpet. Found that the black hose was plugged. Fixed by running a piece of flexible wire thru the tube from the outside of the vehicle where it exits thru the firewall. Whatever was plugging it up came loose and about a pint of A/C "condensation" water came out! No problem after that. Still not sure how it happened, since the cabin filter is in good shape.

Thank you very much for this.I avoided a stupid trip to the mechanic by your picture post. I had also blamed my wife for 'spilling' coffee in the car and causing mold, when it was really the AC the whole time.Getting some zip ties this weekend to fix this up.

I'm getting drips under the dash in 2 places, over the gas pedal and in the glove box. Occasionally I hear water sloshing in the dash somewhere which sounds like slowly pouring water from one cup into another cup that has water in it.My drain tube from the condenser (passenger side footwell exiting through the firewall/floor) is clear and dripping water.Where is the water blockage? And why do I hear sloshing?

My daughter's vibe has developed a leak also on both the front and rear passenger side floor. She thought ti happened when it rained but maybe it's the AC hoses as described in earlier posts.Could someone re-post those pic's or is there another possible cause for the leaks? thanks....

Well, my 03 base Vibe has a leak somewhere too. I can smell/feel the moisture after it rained or a few hours after a wash (about twice a year, heh).I too was bummed about the pictures being gone, but I've found some in another thread: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=41779

I have develped a similar problem. I checked both AC drain hoses & they were not loose....but i did find the passenger side moonroof drain clogged with dirt & crud. I cleared it out with a peice of electrical wire & used a old turkey baster to flush it out. Saw water dripping from the bottom of the car so I know its draining. I did the same with the other side & vacumed out the carpet.I am not sure if this will solve the problem. I will be keeping an eye on the carpet to see if it stays dry.

I'm reviving an old thread, I know, but thought I'd share my story:I spent a lovely Canada Day weekend camping in Killarney, and about two hours into the drive home, I could hear a strange "fssssssst" or hissing sound every time I made a good left-hander. It got worse as time went on, and I could smell a slightly chemical/electrical odour. The hissing had me wondering if there was a breach in the evaporator core, so I drove home with the windows down and A/C off.As it turns out, it was simply backed up, and the condensed water from the A/C must have been sloshing into the blower assembly, making the noise when it hit the whirling squirrel cage. I pulled the hose -- nothing. I poked the thin end of a thick zip tie into the nozzle, and opened the floodgate. I suspect the blower motor assembly has a bit of water sitting in it, (and consequently the motor itself) but I'll take my chances in letting it dry out.I've linked the picture from the other thread, for convenience sake:

Thank you dtaylor; your photo saved the day. Just like so many other Vibe owners, yes we got a very wet passenger floor and could figure out where the water was comming from. Since we live in AZ it wasn't a rain issue and I knew it involved the A/C some how. Sure enough, pulled the carpet back and saw the exact view as shown in the picture. Now the hose is reattached with a zip tie and all is back to normal. The picture really helped with understanding exactly where and what the issue was.
Everyone reading this thread appreciates you taking the time to post the picture.

well, THAT was easy! Now the wife's purse won't get wet on her way to work any more.
It's amazing what 5 minutes and an internet connection can accomplish!
