Although they were criticized for lack of HP (which can ALWAYS be fixed BTW) they were REALLY great looking cars!!! Better than the Chevy SS. heres some pics of the front bumpers removed...makes the front end look awesome.http://www.theprowlerconnection.com/MyCar.html

Sweet ride for sure but....

Post by Bikerscum »

They missed the boat just like Pontiac/Saturn on the Solstice/. Cars that look fast but aren't sell to women, & only women. Well, and to..... never mind. It's just common sense..... that apparently Detroit just doesn't have. Buy a Prowler, then get owned by an economy car at a stop light.... him saying "Zoom Zoom" as he pulls away. Just dumb.

Did you miss the whole Solstice GXP/Sky Redline memo? Sub 3000 lb cars with 260 horse on tap? I've seen several GXP's that are FAR from slow and have men driving them. Base model's maybe, but IMO, Pontiac & Saturn def didn't miss the boat on that. Difference of locale may have something to do with it too.

I think I've only seen a woman driving a Solstice or Sky once... and unfortunately it wasn't me!

Really? Dang then only 11,000 men (or whatever the number is of limited edition hardtops they made for less than a year) get to drive that car.I don't really think that's the distinction, I think the *engine* is. Redline/GXP is certainly more in tune with the manly side of things (and the only one I would drive too... lol! What does that say about me...)Besides, even if they were chick cars... direct competition with the Mazda Miata, right? There's definitely a market for it.

yeah, plus the soft top being shown is the base vs the hard top being the gxp.Like you said ponta, the engine is the BIG difference. IIRC base is 140ish?? vs the GXP with 260!!! That's more than just a lil difference.

Its a shame they didnt make the Solstice Coupe. Wouls have been a very cool car. If I could buy ONE car & have the exotic look without the exotic price OR high cost to maintain. It would be this car:http://www.mustangandfords.com....htmlItalian looks with a easy to maintain Ford V8. I have seen one on the road ONCE. The sound of that that 351 engine was just music to my ears.....
