My first reaction was, BS! Quite interesting. I will remember to watch out for jumping whales next time I'm sailing.

There are lots of whales off the SoCal coast. I've had a whale surface (not breach) next to my boat (literally just 5 feet away). 3 years ago off Santa Cruz Island, sailed thru pod of at least 100, one of them grazed my rudder, sent a big shudder thru the boat. No damage - except to my nerves!!!

Its actually a video. I saw it on the news last week. The whale crushes the sailboat but no one was hurt.
