HELP with Radio. No sound from the speakers

so today while driving down the highway at about 65 mph I hear a pop then no sound from any of the speakers. Nothing else was wrong and the radio was still on and I could change all the stations and the the CD would load unload and cycle through all the tracks, no sound. About 3 miles later I stopped the car and opened the driver door and pop and radio back on. 20 minutes later I left again and 2 minutes in pop and its off again. Then 2 minutes later it is back on. This happened a couple times then pop and back on for good. IT happened on the highway, and in a parking lot. No bump before it happened. I really have no clue about this. The only thing I did was get in the hatch and the compartment by the sub and there is a plug hanging there not attached to anything and nothing I could find to plug it into. The only other thing is it was 100 degrees. Thanks everyone.

First thing I would check is the fuse on the factory amp (which Im guessing you have). It might still be making a slight connection, but it is corroded enough to be cutting out every now and then.Also, was it 100 degrees inside the car too?
