Air Conditioning Condensate Water Drip

Post by Slide »

I'm getting drips under the dash in 2 places, over the gas pedal and in the glove box. Occasionally I hear water sloshing in the dash somewhere which sounds like slowly pouring water from one cup into another cup that has water in it. (I removed the outside screen under the windshield wipers and checked there for water, nothing). My drain tube from the condenser (passenger side footwell exiting through the firewall/floor) is clear and dripping water.Where is the water blockage? Is there another tube? Why do I hear sloshing?

Welcome to GenVibe!!! The pipe may be clear but is there something in the tray that the pipe's attached to?

Do you have a sunroof? If so, has it been raining where you live? It might be that the front drainage tubes are clogged/blocked allowing water to get into the pillars and then behind the dash. Just throwing out an idea.

Thanks. Yes I do have a sun roof. I'll check that. Also, I'll remove the drain tube and fish around with a wire to see if there's something inside the box. Thanks again

If you want to see if your sunroof drain tubes are clogged, try pouring some water into them (with a cup or something) and see if any water is coming out them under the car. It should exit by the wheel wells (I think--or it might be near where you would put the jack to raise the car) and you should see the pavement getting wet on both sides of the car where it's draining. The drainage holes are easy to see--just open the sunroof, stick your head up there and look in the corners and you will see them.

Did you get the sloshing water sound fixed? I'm experiencing the same thing. I have an '08 Vibe, It's 97 degrees out and I was driving for less than 10 minutes. I turned left and heard a steady hiss from inside the right side dash. I felt drops on my right foot and noticed water spots that smelled a bit moldy on the passenger side carpet. I looked under the car and no drip. reached under the dash but not very wet.Any ideas?
