SRI questions

Post by sgp2012 »

I'm really thinking about getting a cosmo racing short ram intake and i have a few questions. How does it improve your gas mileage? Is there any maintenance that needs to be done frequently?Should the cosmo filter be replaced with a better one?I cant think of any more questions now, but i might have some later. Thanks genvibers!

If you like hearing the sound and press the gas more often than you do now then, no, you will lose mpg.2) No really, other than cleaning the filter when dirty. I'd recommend once a year, unless your in a really dusty dirty area, then more frequently. MAF Sensor may need to be cleaned every so often if you use an oiled filter.3) The cosmo filter is a non-oiled filter. You can oil it with a K&N filter oiling Kit, if you like for better protection, but be sure not to over-oil it. Otherwise, K&N (pre-oiled) filters are great. If you want to stay with a non-oiled filter I would recommend either a AEM Dry filter or an aFe Pro Dry-S filter.Hope this helps.

I know the K&N has a Million Mile Warranty. The Cosmo may need replacing at some point.

Just by inspecting it each time you clean it. Looking for wear and tear and degradation of the filter over time.

Yeah if you're really only looking to get the sound of a SRI, with no CEL this may be the route to go. The sound is really all I want

I had a Bomz CAI a long time ago. it worked great, but was LOUD due to the aluminum tube walls being so thin. If sound is what your looking for, look no further than Bomz.
