I installed one of these iPod controllers in my 03 several years ago, about the time they were being taken off the market. When I "re-vibed" a few weeks ago, I started looking for another one to put in my 05, rather than removing it from my 03. That pleased my son, who really wanted me to leave it in his "new" car.The unit works great as a controller, but does allow a bit of background noise, especially when the iPod is paused or there are soft passages in a song. I'm using a h/k FM transmitter adapter to block the signal from the car's antenna so the iPod can play over an unused FM frequency. The unit can be hard-wired using RCA plugs, if your HU is so equipped.Anyway, this is pretty old tech, but it beat installing a new HU in the car.I installed the control knob where the "dummy" switch used to reside. I had to drill out part of the area where the switch mechanism would have been, so the controller cable would pass through it. I think the blue ring goes well with the lights on the IP. On this car, I used the included adhesive pad to attach the display to the top of the dash. On my 03, I permanently attached it to the A-pillar. If this one pops off, I'll attach it with the screws that came with the unit. Overall, it works fine for me, and blends in well with the interior. You can still find these on eBay and Amazon, and if anyone is interested in the install details of where I got the stuff, let me know.I spend about 2.5 hours a day commuting, and live in radio wasteland, so having my iPod to keep me company is a must!
