Milage question

I filled up my car about 3 weeks ago ( topped right up so I'd imagine are about 50L of gas in there.Now, I am at 465 km and I have about 1/8 worth of gas left ( according to the gauge ), I think I should be able to go until 480 km or so280 km were highway driving, the rest are city.So, that's just under 10L/100kmMy Vibe is fairly new with about 4500Km on it.It's a Base, with Automatic and I am usually the only person in the car.The milage seems a little low to me... do you guys think so ?

Is that supposed to sound like a story problem?I wish they would have just taught us metric in elementary school...If I ever decide to have kids, I'm teaching them metric when they are little. So that's about 23.5 mi/gal? Yeah, seems a little low to me. I have not figured mine in a while, but I think mine is lower than what other people have posted too.

I've only put one tank of gas in so far, so I don't have MPG workouts..What I generally do is reset one of the trip meters each time I fill the tank. I write down the mileage on the reciept, and then put it all in an Excel spreadsheet..Miles / Gal = MPG ...and with the spreadsheet, I can track it over time, that way i'll know if there's a developing problem with the car..

I usually get in between 25 mpg and as high as 36 mpg, in US units...It all depends on the kinda week I have. If it's stressful, I drive harder. If it's vacation, I go easy, and do better.I have a 1500+ mile (2400+ km) trip coming up Saturday...I'm gonna fight myself to go easy on the gas pedal because I want to see how high my MPG ratings can and will go...

The big question is how fast do you drive on the highway and did you have the air conditioning on? I find driving over, say, 105km/hr or driving with the A/C on really affects the gas mileage in my AWD. I did a 2000km road trip recently with a canoe on the roof, 4 people in the car and the back hatch full to the roof and still averaged something like 8.6l/100km. Mind you, I stuck between 95 and 105 km/hr the whole way. My Vibe has about 35,000 km on it.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention in my last post that the most I've gotten on a single tank is 607km but I was pretty much on fumes at that point. My gas warning light usually comes on around 500km and I usually fillup around 550km (I reset the trip odometer at each fill).

My Vibe has 12 000km in it and I'm doing about 500km until the low fuel light come on.At the beginning, I was doing 300-350km to get the light.

update OK, I think my Vibe maybe somewhat over-sensitve...I just fueled up today before my commute and actually, the gauge wasn't completely at the buttom yet.( it was almost pointing to the last line, but not quite )Now, it only took 40 litres to fill my Vibe up, the tank is 50L... so that means I still had 20% of the tank left!I think I saw the warning light, it's a little orange indicator right ? ( I don't have my manual with me now )S0, since I got 485km ( ~ 300 mile ) out of 40L ( ~ 11 gallon ) of gas... my milage is better than I thought.It's about 12 km/litre, or just under 30 MPG.

I've been averaging about 32MPG. I've had as high as 38MPG from road trips and as low as 23MPG when I lead foot it all week or play with it on the freeway with Overdrive Off.

Make sure you write down exact mileage and exact fuel amounts when you fill up. And do it a couple times then average it out. I'm not sure if the 40L number in your last post was rounded for our benefit, or if you rounded it before you did the calculations, but you need exact figures to get an accurate read on mileage.
