Hitch Wiring Follow Up

I've installed a Curt 56035 hitch wiring kit except for the power wire to the battery. Has anybody run this wire inside the vehicle instead of under it? There doesn't seem to be a really good path to run it, plus it seems it's rather vulnerable under there.

I ran mine under the car and used cable ties to attach to the steel brake lines. I brought it into the car behind the rear bumper where there is already a hole and grommet with wires. Seems like inside the car would be a lot more work and I doubt it would be any better.Be sure to use a fuse or breaker near where you attach at the battery or fuse block. I used an automatic resetting circuit breaker, any auto parts store will have them.

The brake line is not near where the wire comes out either. I need to find a garage where I can put it on a hoist to see the best way to route it. It would be much easier, as this vehicle is too low to the ground to crawl under without jacking it up. I may try taking some panels off inside to see what I can do about running it there.

I ran mine inside along the drivers side. Just had to unbolt the plastic storage trays around the spare tire and the door scuff plates and kick panel. At the gromet for the wiring next to the steering column is little nipple to pass additional wires through. Would recommend putting loom over the wire under the dash from the firewall to drivers kick lots of sharp edges at least in my car. I actually decided to run a heavier gauge wire in for additional power into the car for additional 12V outlets from and back, a USB power port, rear fog and work light. Running wires out the back can be passed through the gromet for the lic. plate illumination. I can even power up a 2000lb winch that can slip iinto the 1 1/4" hitch receiver if necessary.... LOL
