More cameras

I like the backup camera on my Vibe, so I'm going to add some more. The head unit I have has an aux video-in line that's just begging to be used, so I ordered a three-source video switch and some small cameras. I'm working out places to mount them and looking for ideas. Here are some that I have so far, let me know what you think the best three are or suggest some new ones I haven't thought of:* Under the car, looking forward. Maybe between the two rear wheels, so I can see the ground/road I'm driving on and maybe see the suspension doings its thing.* Top rear of the car looking back, a different angle than the backup camera. so I can check my trailer or just have a view of what's going on behind me. My backup cam is hardwired to reverse at the moment, so it's not easy to switch to it.* Engine compartment! IR cam with night vision, could be neat to have a view of what it looks like in there. Probably boring 99% of the time, but that one day when something starts smoking... * Front bumper looking forward, maybe to help with seeing curbs, maybe just because it's a neat view of the road?I know it's dorky, but I like silly projects like this.

If you pull the trailer frequently I would put one on as a backup on the camper, one on the front looking forward (speed bumps) and one in the normal backup camera spot.

Thanks! Yeah, as I mentioned in my post, I've already got a backup camera, so I'm looking for three clever locations for additional cameras (total # of cameras=4). The cameras are cheap at $10, maybe I should put on on a pole to give me a third-person view of my car.

I'll be doing the EXACT mod to my next work van sometime next year (summer 2011) and here's where I plan on putting my FOUR cameras:One looking straight ahead! This one will be mounted probably on my rear view mirror and have a clear view of all activity in front of the car. Second & Third cameras will be mounted high on the pillars and facing out the drive/pass window. These will record all activity of anything happening on the sides of the vehicle.Fourth will be the rear view camera. Like the other three this will be mounted INSIDE the vehicle. The only time I'll lose recording clarity will be during inclement weather (snow, rain, etc.) With all of them inside they'll be less likely to get damages or stolen. Also I'll have some sort of DVD recorder which will run ALL the time so it will be wired to a HOT power source. I've got a good year or so to do research on this BUT it is going to happen for sure. Too much $$$ wrapped up in tools & inventory to take a chance. Let me know how your project comes along

I see where some luxury car have them underneath the side rear view mirrors.. So I guess you can see curbs and what not..
