removing rear window struts?

Post by cheezcake. »

I'm tinting my vibe myself, and i'm almost done, i've just got the last few inches of the bottom of the rear window to do. I'd like to remove the rear window struts and the latch where the glass hatch secures, for the sake of simplicity. it will look so much better than if i just cut around them. Is it possible? I'm afraid of diving into it and not being able to put it back together.

Ok pop the cover on the windshild wiper arm on the outside of the window off. There will be a 10mm nut there. Remove that then pull the arm off. Then sepearate the rear windshield wiper black box on the inside of the glass. there will be a few bolts to remove once that is off then the rear wiper assembly should be able to move enough that you can get the tint in there. The window struts, there is a "c" clip that covers the back of the arm. Take a screw driver and pry it off then the arm will pop off the mounting stud. Becarefull not to let the window fall. As for the mounting studs that are left in the window. I never had enough balls to try and remove them. I was too afraid i would break the glass. I just cut around them.
