Really neat RPO code / VIN decoder site!

Post by vibenvy »

I came across the link for this site on the J-Body Organzation site a little bit ago and decided to enter in mine and my mom's VINs to see what would come up. It was pretty interesting and appears to be pretty accurate as well. There are 5 2009 PONTIAC VIBE FWD 'GT' vehicles (0.053%) matching my mom's (2009 Steel Blue Metallic GT) exact options list. There are 7 2009 PONTIAC VIBE FWD 'GT' vehicles (0.074%) matching my (2009 Liquid Platinum Metallic GT) exact options list.Someone did warn on the J-Body Organization site that this site is not always 100% accurate i.e. my color is listed as Blue Frost Metallic / Impression Blue / Prestige Blue Metallic when obviously it's silver not blue . It's weird because the color code (20U) is correct, but the colors are obviously nowhere near silver, but besides that everything else seems kosher.Anyway... just thought I'd share this with everyone here so you can look up your VIN and find out just how rare your Vibe really is . Enjoy!

82 of the 9212 '10 Vibes were the same as mine.hard to believe they built less than 10,000 of them-and only about 2/3rds were titled for the US.

Cool site! My 09 Vibe GT is one of only 10. Interesting that it shows there were only 9,419 GT's made and only 609 are the bluestone mettalic color. Could explain why I have never seen another 09 GT of this color going down the road:-)

There are 1 2009 ALL PURPOSE 4 DR VIBE vehicles (0.002%) matching your exact options list. There are 1 (0.002%) with at least as many options. I knew that... I ordered my car exactly how I wanted it from the plant. Had to wait almost 3 months for it. Ordered in end of september. It arrived at my dealer up here in Quebec between Christmas 2008 and new year. Then I waited for my lease on my old car to end. Finaly took delivery of the car on Friday, March 13 2009. Yes a Friday 13th !!!Vehicle: ALL PURPOSE 4 DR VIBEYear: 2009Build Date: 2008-12-04Funny that on the 57088 FWD 2009 Vibe :Only 2558 have the 1SC package5879 are dark blue17938 have the canadian equipement7961 have the block heater50337 have the cruise control25030 have the 2,4L engine22860 have the 5 speed shiftable automatic tranny7487 have the non-chrome 17'' rims7939 have the fog lamps7929 have the sunroof

Thanks for finding this-kinda cool.10/23/08The only white 2009 ALL PURPOSE Vibe with the specific option combo is all mine. To toughen it up, some idiot gave it a permanent scar (dent) last month. Some funny stats in this: for instance, all 57,088 of them have a reclining drivers seat, a heater, gray (?) cloth seats and brakes. And, three actually came without On-Star (just have a plain rear-view mirror).

Something may explain why we almost all have only 1 Vibe like ours. The week of production seems to influance the RPO codes if we go lower in the page.Maybe someone could look into this...

I agree w/the skepticism about the "uniqueness" of our Vibes based upon that website. I've got an '05 AWD Moonstone w/Moons & Tunes...and I've seen more than a few of these while living in MD, PA & WA. Yet, after running my VIN, I'm told there are only 4 exact matches. I mean really, the car is nothing special per se; no special order features, no deletions, nothing. Contrary to what they're saying, I suspect my '05 Vibe combo (AWD/color/M&T) is about the most common AWD for that year. Tell me that you guys haven't seen more than a few '05-'08's like that...something is amiss.

Of course, the sticker on the doorframe tells what month and year yours was built. Mine was built in May 2002, but the build date here also shows up as 'unknown'. I suppose it's possible that a '2003-model-year' vehicle built in calendar-year-2002 somehow "doesn't compute" in their database.

My 2003 Vibe Base Auto 2-tone Salsa "SalsaWagon" was built in May 2002. I acquired it in Feb 2004/Traded it in on a 2016 Honda HR-V in Feb 2018.

One thing some people seem to be missing on here - if only "1" car matches the list - then that's YOUR car - not 1 "other". It's one of a kind!Mine's apparently not very "rare" compared to many others. It's listed as 1 of 36, and 1 of 109 with "at least" as many codes listed. It was built Feb. 20, 2009. I bought it March 9 - the day it rolled off the truck.17,938 2009's were sold in Canada (out of 57,088 total)25,030 had 2.4's22,860 of those were automatic.I still thought the most interesting thing was that 3 were built without OnStar.I've got to check my brother's VIN when I get a chance. Obviously much rarer than mine being a 2.4 manual with 1SB package in Canada. We had to order it as well - there were NONE at the time.

I agree. The phone was handy for the first year - but now it's a useless piece of hardware I'm dragging around. At least I've disabled the no longer needed buttons on the mirror - and shut down the system entirely. (The buttons no longer light up.) There's a fuse under the hood labeled "MAYDAY". Pull this one, and the OnStar system is disabled with no other effects I've noticed. It's been nearly 6 months now - so I'm pretty sure I'd have noticed something by now...One day if I run across a Matrix or Corolla in the scrap yard, I'll inquire about obtaining the mirror. Even with mine as high as I can adjust it, it's still irritatingly large - now unnecessarily so.If only we could convert the hardware to work with Bluetooth or something useful. I think maybe Ford has something better figured out with their Sync system personally.

...unfortunately, in today's economy, that $252 per year can be used much better elsewhere....do you "pay" for your cell-phone by the month or by the usage? That's how On-Star should be too, pay for the usage, not a flat monthly fee for something "un-used" (sorta like insurance premiums!)....but, that's just my 2¢ opinion.

Quote, originally posted by bwflorida »WOW! That's a pretty harsh opinion of an inexpensive service that can be very helpful in an emergency and might even save your life sometime. Here's my experience with OnStar: Last weekend, we were stranded about 50 miles from home, when both right side tires went flat. We knew which road we were on, but didn't see any cross roads or street signs to identify our exact location. We pressed the blue OnStar button, were connected in just a few seconds, told the Operator what had happened and asked if he could determine our location. He said he could see us on his GPS system, and would call a towing company ASAP. He also identified a Goodyear store located about 16 miles away. He then volunteered to call us back periodically until the tow truck arrived, which it did in about 45 minutes. The ruined front tire was replaced with the spare and the rear tire was re-inflated, and we were on the road again. Although I have a Florida Concealed Carry Permit, it was comforting to have the OnStar operator standing by in case any not-so-friendly people might try to take advantage of an older couple alone and helpless on the open highway. If we had been in a serious accident, we could have pushed the red OnStar button and had emergency crews on the way almost immediately.I pay only $21.00 a month for that peace-of-mind, and after last weekend, I'd pay double that amount and still consider it a bargain. Finally, the OnStar buttons on our 06 Vibe only add 1/2-inch to the bottom edge of the mirror, so it's hard to understand how that can be "irritatingly large."You might feel that you're invincible and can survive any emergency on-your-own, but if something really serious ever happens to you while driving, you might regret having disabled such a valuable emergency resource.I'm glad OnStar worked well for you, but when I called to set up my free trial and the guy congratulated me on the purchase of my new Saturn Vibe, I knew I wouldn't be renewing it. If they can't even get the make of the car right, how the heck are they going to "save" me in the event something happens? Furthermore, it's no different than driving an older car without OnStar. When your time is up, your time is up as my grandpa used to say.Quote, originally posted by Old Tele man »...unfortunately, in today's economy, that $252 per year can be used much better elsewhere....do you "pay" for your cell-phone by the month or by the usage? That's a pretty significant amount of money in my opinion. Especially for something that you may never even need. If anything, I'll end up getting AAA one of these days. At least I know AAA will be able to find me out here in the boonies. On a bit of a side note, if anyone is interested, I looked at GM Parts Direct and found the part number for the non-OnStar mirror. The part number is: #19184605. It's $80.49 plus $19.32 shipping, so $99.81 total compared to $136.42 from the dealer. I will probably just end up getting this regular mirror as opposed to the auto dimming one from Toyota.

For you guys looking to replace the OnStar mirrors w/a regular one, does the Corolla rear view mirror fit the Matrix/Vibe? Because if it does, you can get them on Ebay for $30-40.For instance: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...5e117
