Cassette Player

Post by chung7 »

Has anyone tried to add a or a cassette player/CD combo to their vibe? I have so many books on tape, cassettes, that I would love it if I could add a combo player into the dashboard. Thanks for your input!

Talk to Nova...once in a while he sees a guy on ebay selling the cassette/cd combo player that's an option on the matrix...i'd say go for that if you can track one down...
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

Toyota offers a CD/cassette radio on the Matrix. looks almost exactly the same as the base Vibe radio, except there's a cassette slot above the lower row of buttons and the one button is labelled CD/TAPE instead of CD/AUX. http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=4306 I got one of these because it is just a swap out with the original radio, no wiring harness changes, plug 'n' play with the Moon & Tunes amp. There was one on ebay, and the seller had a high reserve which wasn't met, so I contacted him after the auction and we worked out a deal. I wouldn't buy one from a Toyota dealer, because their list price is insulting. If that hadn't worked out, I would have probably gone for a completely different unit, maybe one that also played MP3 CDROMs, and it would have still been a third the price of the Matirx radio from a Toyota dealer. So if you don't have a lead on a discount one from a Matrix, check out an electronics store that does car audio installs.I like books on tape also, get them from the library for free, really passes the time. Sometimes I get where I'm going and hang out in the car to find out what happens in the story.

Hi All,Hey, if I get the Cassette and CD combo, I guess all that money I put into the original Moons and Tunes package is wasted? Someone mentioned that installing the Matrix combo is easy? Can you please give me a bit more detail on how to remove the Vibe stereo and how to install the Matrix one? I would greatly appreciate that! Thanks!

quote:Hey, if I get the Cassette and CD combo, I guess all that money I put into the original Moons and Tunes package is wasted? No it wasn't. The moon and tunes package adds an amp and door tweeters. It has nothing to do with the head unit. You could order the single CD or 6-disc head unit with the moon and tunes package. Adding a matrix single-CD + tape head unit will still use the moon and tunes amp and speakers. Whay head unit did you get? The single CD or the 6-disc in-dash unit?quote:Someone mentioned that installing the Matrix combo is easy? Can you please give me a bit more detail on how to remove the Vibe stereo and how to install the Matrix one? I would greatly appreciate that! You just pull off the silver bezel and undo a few screws. The head unit pulls out and then you just disconnect the wire plug(s) on the back and antenna. Reverse process with new head unit and you're done.
