HID's Worth it?

Post by 09vGT »

Okay.. So someone suggest some plug and play HID kits from DDM Tuning. I read the instructions and they seem fairly easy to install.. So maybe I could do it myself.. .. But.. I have seen where some say it makes it even more difficult to see when it rains.. definitely don't want that.. Aren't they suppose to be brighter to make it easier to see?.. Anyone have them..? You glad you made the change? Should they last as long as my factory bulbs? Any potential complications? Should I steer clear and can you suggest and alternative? I just don't want to waste money.. These will be going on an 09 GT. Here they are.. not sure if anyone has these.. says they work with any car..http://www.ddmtuning.com/Produ...r-55W

lots of people use plug and play kits. Depending on what bulb temp you chose will dictate how well you can actually see. If you do buy a set, though I don't recommend them simply because you will blind oncoming traffic, stick with 4300k bulb temp or 6000k bulb temp.

Speaking of glare.. anyone know how much glare that the 09+ Vibe's produce? I also don't want to blind others... and want to upgrade from my standard bulbs.. and not get worse lighting..

I have heard that a lot of people on here are using the silver star ultra bulbs, they are like 30 bucks online why not give them a try? I plan on getting a pair for my 08 vibe.

I plan on getting a pair for my 08 vibe.I have Silver Stars in the fog lights of mine and my mom's '09 GTs and Silver Star Ultras in the low and high beams as well. I couldn't be any happier with them. I got them all super cheap on eBay (less than half of what they cost at Auto Zone, etc.). I was going to order some HIDs from DDM, but I didn't want to be blinding people and all (because I hate when it happens to me) so I decided to stick with the Silver Stars. Also, they have all been installed in both our GTs for over a year now and have yet to burn out, so I would take what everyone around here says about them burning out quickly with a grain of salt (I'm not saying they're lying or anything, just saying I haven't had any issues with them burning out in over a year now). Of course when I put them in I did wear rubber gloves to avoid any possible "contamination" of the bulbs, so that could make a difference I guess. Long story short, I highly recommend them. I have never been flashed so I know I'm not blinding people like I would if I had HIDs in the factory housings. Just my $.02 though.

I have a DDM 35w 6000k kit installed in my 09 GT. I am really happy with it. Visibility is greatly improved, although I haven't driven on a dark rainy night yet so I can't comment on that. The bulbs are not difficult to install, but it was a bit of a challenge to find a place to mount the ballasts. I know everyone says HID's in halogen housings blinds oncoming traffic, but I've had the DDM kit installed for just over a month now and no one has flashed their lights at me....

I just had Bothwerks 6000K HID's installed in my heads (H4 -Hi/low) and fogs (9006) last night. Went for a test drive after dark in and out of heavy traffic and no one flashed me. So that's a good sign, but it was only one night so far...lol. they did help me to see a couple walking across the road that I normally wouldn't have seen with my other bulbs.
