First, sorry about all the questions, but you guys know more about car audio than I do #1 Is there any difference between the original Basslink and the Basslink X besides the clear box on the X? ($200 on eBay for a basslink x, $185 for the og one)#2 My initial goal was to buy a custom fiberglass box that mounts flush between the rear cargo rings for around $300. It would come with an Image Dynamic 10" woofer, but I'd have to spring for a new amp as well, and I just don't seem have the cash atm. I also don't want to keep the seller waiting. While I don't intend on entering any competitions, I do want nice thump in my trunk, and the Basslink might be the way for me considering it's self-powered. What do you guys think? Does anyone else run a basslink? How hard was it to install?
I'm planning on a basslink. They have a nice bass sound to them. The only difference between the basslink and the x is the clear casing. All of the other specs are identical.
Thanks for the quick reply. What do you think about mounting it under the back seats? Is it feasible/possible? Would it need any extra ventillation for the amp?
Good question. I haven't looked under the back seat to see if it would fit. I know it will fit in the place for the space tire. I was thinking of mounting it to the rear hatch or the ceiling, but I doubt it will work. Looks like I'm going to be without a spare tire.
It'll fit in our spare tire well? Ooo, I kinda like that :DI am considering getting one of these as well at the moment (hooray for ebay!)Let me know how it works out for under the rear seats, if this can be hidden, the better
I have the basslink installed and I did it myself. It does not take up much room so unless you really need the full width of the cargo area, just mount it in the back.I have it mounted vertically dirrected into the left rear courner. You can mount these thins horizontally or Verticaly. I tried both and found verticaly the best. If you mount it between the passenger seat and the back seat your going to be blocking half the sound. You want this thing to be able to move the air. Or so I think! Someone else said they put one there but I wonder if they tried it in the rear first. Hey, whatever sound good right!

I just mounted mine. It will not fit under the seats, but I was able to put it on the floor behind the front passenger seat. It limits passenger seat rear travel slightly and a right rear passenger has little leg room. No need to bolt it in, the front seat holds it in place when it is slid all the way back. Sounds great and you can't see it at all from the outside. I mounted the remote control on the rear of the center console. Easy to access and again, you can't see it.
Once I buy mine, I'll test installation in both the cargo area and under the backseat, if it fits. I'll let you guys know which placement sounds better. Something tells me that the enclosed space might actually help resonate. We'll see...I'm taking measurements this weekend.
