My car rolled over to 50K about 2K miles ago. I take my car to the dealer for oil changes and whatnot, so is there anything extra that I should have done to it next oil change that is due? Any fluid changes or anything? Its a 2009 GT.
Vibe transmissions are hard on fluid. So you might want to get your transmission fluid flushed. At least do a pan drain yourself and put in some Lube Gard red bottle along with three and a half quarts of Toyota T-IV ATF (actual Toyota brand). It is easy to do on these because there is a drain plug on the transmission pan, so it is just like draining oil. This gets about half the fluid out and should enable you to go until 75k miles or more until you need a full flush (do at a Toyota dealer - GM dealers only do the pan drop on Vibes because they don't have the equipment to do a full flush - but they don't tell you that). You also might want to get a brake bleed if you have already replaced your front brakes but did not get them bled. If you have not replaced your front brakes yet, don't worry about the bleed. I would get the rear brakes adjusted and cleaned, though (if they are drum on the 2009 like on the previous generation, if they are disc disregard this - I don't remember off hand what type they are). Also get the front brakes checked for wear. Check the serpentine belt and tires as well. Also the air filter and cabin air filter. Other fluids should be fine for now (power steering, coolant). At 50k it is a lot of checking things just to make sure all is still well. At 75k more needs flushing/changing/replacing.
