problems with air conditioning, 04 Vibe, please help

ok here's the low-down on the trouble I'm having:'04 vibe, 80k milesair blows hard, but is warm, about the same as the outside tempplenty of refrigerant (40 psi,) no leakscompressor cycles on and off properlythis problem began suddenly, not graduallyruled out relay switch and fusesanyone have any ideas, tips, or suggestions? I don't want to spend a fortune on parts that I don't need...

I don't want to spend a fortune on parts that I don't need...OK... here's what to look for: First off, in general, the compressor should NOT cycle on & off that much. At least on bigger rides (based on my experience) the compressor should almost always be on (clutch engaged). If it is cycling too much then you have a "low pressure" condition which could mean loss of R-134A refrigerant. The other thing to look for is a cabin air filter, if equipped. It MUST be clean and allow air to flow freely across the evaporator. If you don't have one then maybe the coil is dirty anyways. When you can't move air across the evap, then your pressure bottoms out AND then we're back to the cycling thing again. Place the fan on HIGH and see if it still cycles. Also, on a hot humid day, your suction line (the larger line) will always "sweat" which is a good indication of a proper charge. Hope this helps a bit
