Toyota buys stake in Tesla, Tesla to buy NUMMI.As cool as it must have been to build Vibes, it would be wayyyyy cooler to build Teslas (even if they are the $30K family haulers and not the sports cars).
That's great news. Tesla needed the backing of a large auto company. This should actually benefit both companies by helping Toyota make the transition to electrics... and allow Tesla to increase product range and production volume. The benefits for the consumer, lower prices due to those larger production numbers, no? Could be a win, win, win! Got my fingers crossed.

Yea...gotta move on from here to the Tesla forum with the name IMakeTeslas.Actually not quite. Don't know whats happening with that - its too early to tell. I was at a local community college working on some paperwork I need to get together in preparation to going to school fulltime and watching the news from Google with Schwarzenegger there when the press release came across the wire about the press conference. We ended up watching the press conference from Tesla live there. But this is all news to me. There was rumor about Toyota staying in the plant in some capacity or Tesla building there, but never the Tesla/Toyota partnership. I think most of what was going on in the past was wishful thinking. But whatever happens, they're still pretty far away from producing a Tesla anything in that plant or needing all 5000 employees back...stay tuned.
That 4 door sedan is a 7 seat car. They have some interesting product plans. They could go far. I would really like to drive a usable electric. Tesla's technology is pretty sound.

I've actually seen three Telsa's here in Indianapolis. I about had to change my pants One was just parked on the side of the street as I was drooling over it and the other two were driving. One of which was getting it and it was so awesome watching it pull away and hearing nothing. It kinda reminded me of a movie or tv show where a car kinda jumps from one place to another. It was freaking awesome!!! I've been reading up on them since 06 before the first person ever received theirs. I tried to convince a buddy that we should go half and half on it lol
