Window DIED???

Post by ragingfish »

Ok...so I put down my windows today when I got home from work to air out the car, let the interior "breathe." That was about 8 hours ago or so. Went to put them up. All but the passenger window went up. Wasn't sure what that was all about. tried the passenger window control (rather than the driver master control). Window doesn't budge. Just sits there. No sound of a motor or anything. Thinking my motor might have died? But I now have a window stuck in the down position, and it's supposed to rain tonight (AIIIIEEEEE!!!!!). Anyone else run into this problem before?

Dude, I've decided that you've had TOO MANY problems with your car! Good Luck though!

Maybe...but it doesn't feel like it's been unusually bad. I still don't feel apathy towards the car company, which I always start feeling when a car, IMHO, has too many problems...

Most definitely. I'm 99% sure the motor punked out...not sure how or why...but will let you know for sure as soon as I get the diagnosis!

Check the window override switch on the drivers door. If activated it will disable the driver and passenger control. Same thing happened to me and I must of bumped the window cut out switch... James

All of the windows work except the single front passenger one...But I did check that just in case. Not that either.

Ugh...my parts guide show the motor for the passenger door as almost $300US!!! I hope it's either (A) not that, or (B) warrantied!

Yes, it would be warrantied. 3 year 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. Have them fix it.

It realy sounds like the motor passed a way, or the relay. But for sure, it is under warranty.

I doubt the relay went, because all other windows operate normally.

The results are in!The problem was: WHO KNOWS???I swear to god, the tech went to look at it, and IT WORKED FOR HIM!!!I tried it several times last night, and again this morning, and it never worked...I don't know WHAT the heck happened, but now it works. It's up, they told me leave it up and have it checked more carefully at my next service visit...Figures. LOL!On another note, as I was leaving the service area, an Envy vibe pulled up right behind me...first actual sighting of one ever by me...Here's a pic of it in my side mirror:

Yah, it wasn't melting, it is clearly discoloration...and there is still white noise...but repeated compalints to the dealer are responded to with "NPF: NO PROBLEM FOUND" or "UNABLE TO REPRODUCE CUSTOMER CONCERN"

Plus anytime I mention these things to my dealer, they don't really deal with it...cosmetic things are kinda unimportant to them. I figured I'd ask Jeff Strausser his opinon at the meet. If he says it's defective, then I'll go to my dealer, and they can call him drect if they don't like what I have to say.

Update.Took to dealer today. They ordered me a new motor, said from how I described, they are almost 100% positive that was the problem. Of course, not being able to duplicate the problem, they couldn't possibly know for sure. Anyway, will take 2-3 weeks to get the part!!!This part supply issue and wait for parts is absurd. *makes note to mention to Jeff at meet!*

Just make sure they actually ordered the motor...I just figured out that my dealer has not even ordered the part that they said they ordered 2 weeks ago for me. I think I'm gonna work on my squeaky wheel skills.
