Stereo/ Subs

Post by 2010VibeMan »

I have a 2010 Vibe GT and am currently working towards putting in 2 12" subs and an amplifier. Does anyone know if i need a new head unit or if the current stock reciever has the av input plug ins needed so that i can hook up the amplifier and subs right to the current stock unit??

the stock unit won't have the RCA pre-outs for an amp. Most amps have both Low Level (RCA) and High Level inputs (speaker output from factory head unit)or you can buy an adapter that converts the speaker output into an RCA connection: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1...ssi=0

i myself have an adapter in my car currently. i am planning on an aftermarket double din though soon. i recommend getting an aftermarket deck though cuz the sound isn't as powerful with the adapter as it is direct coming from the rca outputs of the deck.

I'd recommend an aftermarket HU as well. If you stick with OE head unit get a converter, it sounds better than using the speaker level inputs.
