Hello

Post by anthonygobot »

Howdy folks! Just purchased a 2009 Pontiac Vibe (charcoal/graphite? standard). I am pretty excited as this is my first new new car ever. I will probably do the usual tint and rims first off. I am not sure I want to lower the car too much because I mountain bike and hike. I sure as hell dont need to be too low out here in Kentucky's crappy back roads.

Welcome to GenVibe! Congratulations on getting one of the last brand new '09s! FYI we like pictures so please post some .Also, I see you're in Paducah. You should come to the huge meet we're having in Indy in July . We could use some more '09s & '10s in attendance.

Ill be sure to post some pics soon! Whats funny is I used to have a lowered 96 accord and gave up after I spent a lot of money on cosmetic mods. Now I have the 09 Vibe and im back to surfing the net for rims and what not lol. My 09 Vibe has 41k miles on it but thats super new for me. I have bought nothing but Hondas so this was a big decision.

I have bought nothing but Hondas so this was a big decision. Well done. Hondas are great cars, but a Vibe is a Great Useful car.A Vibe doesn't have to be lowered to look good. It's more of a small "Cross Over Ute"... so a nice set of wheels fitted with oversized tires can add some significant clearance for those off road moments. There's quite a bit of room in that wheel well for a larger diameter tire. Not only do you get the increased clearance that way, the look is not too bad, either. You'll see plenty of pictures of Vibes on this forum, and you'll notice that it doesn't matter whether they are slammed or up high, they all look great. Congrats and welcome to the best Vibe site on the "internets"! You might want to post some pictures of your Vibe soon, too. I've noticed that most of our members are pretty adamant about pictures. So in case no one has asked, you should try to get a picture or two of your Vibe up on the site as a preemptive strike!

Fortunately, there isn't much available for the 2009 - 2010 Vibes so you shouldn't spend quite as much money on it as your Accord .The Vibe is actually a Toyota so you're not far off from your history of Hondas .

Yup! Reaching critical picture mass meltdown thresholds, otherwise known as CPMMT. Condition bright redish. If no picture is posted soon, this whole site could blow! We may have to initiate site evacuation.

Ok Ok fellas pic is up on my original post I definetly will not be slamming this car. I actually was planning to just go with 16" rims and bigger tires. I lied though my first mod will be a hitch and bike rack.

If not, get rid of those oversized plugs and put something smaller to fill the holes. If they do, and you don't want to mount it, then take your chances (that's what I'm doing ) until I can devise my "vanishing plate" contraption

Yeah I need to get rid of the knobs on the front bumper and I also need to get fog lights in there! Any tips on where to get some fog lights? Id also like to see some bike rack rigs if any of you have em. Thanks for the comments and welcomes.

Hey, you posted pictures! I can climb out of the bunker again. Nice looking Vibe! Sure doesn't show like it was driven very hard. Hope the interior was as nicely kept up. What type of aftermarket wheels are you looking at?

Well, I never have been a fancy pants about rims lol. I guess Rotas are still the offbrand to go with? Id like something like these Rota Bellas(they look close to my integra rims) but it looks like they only come in 17s. I remember seeing some Racing Harts similar to these...

I frequent dirt roads like you do. I'm running 215/50/17 on mine with no problems. I wouldn't go any bigger than 17's.
