Wasn't sure where to put those, hope I put it in the right forum.Anyway,We have an 04 Pontiac vibe with the base 1.4l engine, auto transmission and took it on a 300 mile round trip just to see how it would do and what kind of MPG it is getting..It was advertised to geet 36 MPG..But our findings came up short of that..It got right at 30 MPG..Is this normal? Take into account,it was me,my fiance and my 2 parents in the car..Just wanna know what kind of mileage you guys are getting out of your vibes..We are planning a trip (6600miles round trip) this summer and are trying to calculate fuel costs..
I couldn't get ALL hwy miles on my honeymoon(lot of construction and i drove around city too) but I got around 29mpg. And take into consideration I'm on 20s so I went farther than my odometer says I did. That was days after oil change, new air filter, and fuel system treatment.

I get about 28 mpg combined, run my tires at 38 psi. I also have 2 other passengers with me monday through friday, so i guess its not too bad.

Your MPGs will be affected by your driving style, condition of your engine and components like spark plugs, air filter... most of the stuff others have mentioned on this thread. How many miles do you have on your car? What tire pressure do maintain? As far as your mileage with an automatic... you're doing on the OK side. Some get better and a few have reported worse.
