Well I've never really cared about tires and stuff and I have some cheapo's on my car right now which was a bit better than stock ones. The front ones are already all bald and it's only about 15,000 miles since I've had them. I didn't notice it until the dealer told me yesterday that I should change my tires lol I guess I should invest in some better tires.Anyone tried these continental dws? I've read great things about them. I want smooth, quiet and good handling and these seems to give that from what I've read. Also, my stock tires are 215/45-18 and wondering if getting 225/45-18 will give a smoother ride?
Yes, those are some impressive numbers on Tirerack.com. Even better than my Michelin Primacy MXV4's, especially in the snow (column # 7, 8, 9):Continental ExtremeContact DWS 8.8 9.2 9.3 8.4 8.8 8.3 8.9 8.2 7.9 8.9 8.7 9.1 Michelin Primacy MXV4 8.3 8.6 8.6 8.7 9.1 8.7 8.0 7.2 7.4 9.1 8.9 9.0 Unfortunately, they don't seem to come in the 15 inch size for my new Elantra Touring.
http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id ... 39885After our experience w/them on the Vibe, so far, I want to install a set on my Mazda3 HB too. The problem is that they seem to be VERY hard to get. We waited a month for the 205/55-16's to come off back order, but had the time to wait. Now the 225/45-17's I need are also B/Oed? I can, and will wait for them too if need be.

There is another tire out there that is quiet and comfortable. It doesn't quite have the super numbers that the DWS generates in tests, but it's only a little less super. It's the goofy named Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum. I bought a set of 225/50 17s on alloy rims from TireRack for my Vibe. Ran them all last summer and found them to be extremely quiet and comfortable. Turn in is quick, with very good wet and dry weather performance. Even better, the tires roll very efficiently. I was able to get a couple of 40 mpg tankfulls out of them... with upper 30s the rest of the summer. They were so efficient, that I just replaced the tires on my wife's car with set of Kumho Platinums as well. Best tire I've had on her car as well. Tracking straight is something they do extremely well, too and was much needed on her car.Might be worth a try. The only failing I can report was their performance in snow. Marginal at best, even though they are classified as an all season tire. A narrower set probably would make them better in the snow, but I use a dedicated snow tire for Winter, so that's not an issue for me.

I'm going to get Yokohama YK520 from discount tires. Ordered with them today and going to get it installed on Monday. This was the one they recommended me and from reviews I've read it's pretty quiet and smooth so we'll see =/
Got them on today =D I'm glad I went wider because it looks beefier now lol Ride is smoother and a lot quieter now. I mean road noise decreased a lot. $80/tire compared to $160/tire really does make a difference lol I can try to get a pic up tomorrow
ok ok just went out to take a few shots Gotta say I LOVE these tires lol they're so quiet it makes driving more enjoyable now =DBtw, those yellow and red marks on the tires won't come off. Any idea how I can get them off?
Those tires look great! I've been thinking about picking up some of those myself. Good to know they are quiet and the rest of the reviews look promising.

yup I've read a lot of good reviews on these tires and was pleasantly surprised how quiet and smooth they are. Feels like I'm driving a lexus lol not quite but I mean they're a lot lot better than my previous ones. Let's see how long this will last before it starts getting noisy =/
After a year, do you still recommend Yokohama Y520 as a quiet, efficient, all-season tire ?And if you can comment on the above performance comparison between Y520 and DWS ... (though prices differ by a lot?)Thanks!
