im a 17 years old and got a 2006 vibe base. i got a short ram air kit on it and i am going to buy a throttle body spacer for it too. i know this is possibly around 20 horse gain but maybe looking for a little bit more. is thier any kind of chip or ecu that i could put in my car that is a reliabe mod that wont screw anything up. i love my vibe just want it to pull it little better in 4th gear. it pulls fine for me as soon as i shift into 4th it seems like its 2 tall of a gear. so i need a little bit more juice too pull it. i have raced vw jetta2.0 before and i beat them. after 100 they pass me but i dont care anything past 100 any ways. thanks for the help guys

Hey rider, You should do yourself a favor and skip these add-on's and save the money towards a forced induction system. I speak from personal experience and even with the ecu chip, c.a.i., and t.b. spacer your not going to feel the difference. If you wait and save for a super or turbocharger then thats something that your (removed) dyno will actually register.

i should do that but i just want to know if thier is a tb spacer for my year and model car. i just want to do the spacer and just cause it is a good combo with the intake. So can any one tell me if they make one for my style. Thanks
I searched but came up empty, you could always take the TB gasket to a machine shop and have them fab one out of aluminium, then go to your local hardware for longer bolts.

you are better off getting a throttle body ported and polished than a spacer. I had my 04's done and it was a nice little gain. Not sure if bluecrush ended up doing it, but I recommend buying a spare throttle body and shipping that out to have it worked on so you arent down for the week it can take.check them outhttp://www.maxbore.com/check out that thread BC posted, going FI will really make your car not as reliable. I would recommend doing the basics and just accepting that its not a sports car for now.intakeported TBported or aftermarket exhaust manifoldpiggy back camcon or tune2-2.5" down pipe and cat backand other cheap mods.I did some bolt ons to my vibe, but for what it was it was fine, after college I saved up and bought a car that came turbo stock, ms3. ugh...ya well worth it. So thats my opinion.
Northvibe what school of engineering did you study? I put the factory supercharger on my 230k mile 1.8L and it still starts up every day just as it always did, runs like a top even! The 2.3 mazda's even throw turbo's on exactly the same motors that are n/a, 13psi is the known max you would want to run on a stock motor in the "tuner" communitty.I'm planning on going to a smaller pulley in the next week or two and as long as I'm careful to monitor my a/f, egt, and noise comming from my engine, and change the oil regularly, I'm sure it will all go of with out a hitch.I've found that there are alot of nay sayers on this forum, but that's alright, I like to prove people wrong. Anything is possible with enough will power and determination!

It's not that this forum is full of nay-sayers, it's that we try to be realistic and helpfully to our members. Not all factory engines can withstand FI without some modifications. The Cobalt engine when it came could. It was good to just north of 400 horse without any mods to it. If you were to try and do that with the Vibe's engine you'd be crazy. The fact that yours has ran FI without problems is awesome. Congrats to you on that. But we try to give the best advice to everyone. We are all entitled to our opinions.

I think that expecting 20HP out of bolt on's is unrealistic. It's not really the HP that you will gain but may feel a little more responsive and sound a little better. I have the CAI and catback exhaust and it gave it a nice sound and a little more pull towards the higher RPM band. As for 4th gear yeah...you would need to go with FI and I wouldn't recommend doing it to an engine with over 100K miles. If you do it is recommended to build up the engine. But to be honest unless you get a good deal on the FI setup its not worth it on this car ($ to HP). I am saving my cash now for a nice Late model Camaro or Firebird. $3000 will get you 50HP on the Vibe. $2000 will get over 100HP on a good old V8 muscle car.
