OK,I am by no means a perfect lawn freak. I don't mind a few dandelions or odd grass clumps, as long as it is green.I do mind a yard overrun with the above mentioned growths. While I dislike a lot of weeds my dislike for lethal chemicals on my grass is stronger, so with basic upkeep I keep the weeds at bay through good old manual labor (which I oddly find relaxing and satisfying)Over the years I've purchased no less than 4 different weed pulling tools. They all worked to a lesser degree and while effective, were heavy and awkward.I was in Lowes and saw this sitting there. I bought it on the spot and subsequently 4 more for use at work. Here is the link to the toolhttp://www2.fiskars.com/Produc...moverAs the ad says it almost makes it fun to pull weeds is almost true. It misses very few weeds and easily drops them when desired.Dave
my dad has a similar styled one. You put it over the weed, push with your foot on a peg/lever thing and it grabs the weed lift up and release. How does this one work exactly?

Easy and fun to use - simply position the tool over the weed, step down on the foot to drive the claws into the ground, pull back on the handle to grab the weed, then lift the tool and eject the pulled weed.

ahah good I got the exact same one last year, does a great job without requiring any strength at all. The only issue is the gigantic hole left behind, it doesn't just grabs weed but everything around.Great tool, it gets the job done real fast.

With experienced usage the holes can be fairly small. That being said, I'd rather have a large hole and the weed root removed than a minor divot and only the top of the weed yanked off of the roots.Dave

It depends upon the stage of plant growth. I don't want to take a dandelion with ready to fly seed parachutes and risk tapping them into the raw earth.I've been using this tool extensively during the week. It is wonderful out in your yard for errant weeds and also shines in the flower beds you might have. The best part, you don't need to bend over and crawl on the ground! Just stand up, plunge in the tool and yank out the weeds. Sure, some have mutated root systems that require a pull by hand but by and large the need for hands on action is minimal. It does work best in damp soil, really hard clay like I've got here can leave a lot of roots if pulled when dry.Buy one, you won't regret it if you've got a yard and flower beds.Dave
