I will probably regret selling this car, it has been the best commuting car I have owned (been commuting 29 years/102 miles per day).I am here to ask advice on the sale price, I just want to ask a fair price, not looking to overly profit or to just give it away. It is an 04 Base, two tone. auto, 140k miles, new tires, always used mobile one, changed the trans fluid regularly, everything works, paint and interior are in good shape, never wrecked, well you get the idea, it is in great shape for 140k miles. (Dang I should just keep it.)Any ideas on price? I live in Arizona if that makes a difference. Thanks

Not sure what you would ask for it, without seeing it, but since it's a Phoenix car, and so well maintained, you could market it in the north, where cars with that kind of mileage would be growing some significant rust! In any case, it should sell fairly easily. Why are you parting with it? If it's running good, I'd run it 'till she dropped!

That was the plan, I just have four more years/100k miles till retirement, but I have been telling the Ford dealer just down the street that if they would make me a smokin good deal on a Fussion I would buy one. Well they called me and said they had my deal on a Mercury Milan, (same as fussion) it is an 08 with 14k miles and fully loaded. Less tax, less insurance same nice car. Still under factory warranty. Been driving it a week now and really like it, but I kinda miss the Vibe already especially at the pump.

Been driving it a week now and really like it, but I kinda miss the Vibe already especially at the pump.in 4 years, cars will be light years ahead of where they are now. if i had confidence in the vibe being relatively trouble free for 4 years, i'd stick with it.i bought my '10 knowing that in 5 or 6 years, the 28/32 mpg i get will not be all that great compared with what will be coming out then (see Cruze, Chevy). but it certainly beats the 14/23 my truck was getting! i'm hoping for 10 years or 200,000 miles out of the vibe (crosses fingers).
Kelley Blue Book it. http://www.kbb.com I however think you should keep it as long as it runs good even if you only use it for work.on second hand my gf might be going to college out in Arizona the end of august and she might need a car....
Keep the Vibe for another 4 years (it should last that long with minimal maintenance) then whith that extra 4 years of saving you get a nice, brand new 2015 Fusion!!!
In my opinion, I would keep the Vibe till it dies. If I was close to retirement I would want to accumulate as much cash as I could. Personally I would rather have more cash for retirement than a nicer / better looking car. I say keep it !

What is the dealer offering for a trade-in? Or, are they not interested?

I have a friend of mine looking for a Vibe. Please call me at 708-220-4621. She is looking to pay between 6000 and 8000. I have a friend in AZ that can get the car from you and pay cash.

Dealer sells mostly pickup trucks and probably wouldn't be interested in Vibe.I already have 4 other vehicles I am paying the high Arizona insurance premiums on so I need to sell one of them.Nissan 350z---Wifes car, shes says don't even think about it.84 CJ7 with lotsa $$$ in it, can't aford to ever sell it.Suzuki V-Strom, my adrinalin toy.Milan, still getting use to the very quite interior, plush ride and only 27 mpg. Guess I should mention the early ford Bronco that is in a million pieces on the garage floor, it should be restored and on the road soon.So if I sell the Vibe I can buy insurance for everything else. Thanks everyone for all the good advice. Oh by the way the Kelly blue book is $4990 thanks Waveresponder.I'll post if I sell it.

NO offense but I will never buy a Ford ever again--mine burned up while I was driving it--totalled--very very frightening and Ford totally dropped the ball on any liability or negligence--there was a major electrical malfunction--there was later a lawsuit on the Escorts and/or other Fords of the late 80's/early 90's and... well... never again. Keep the Vibe--you might need it soon!

Keep the Vibe--you might need it soon! And to counter that point, I've had five Ford vehicles from an '86 mustang Gt to my current '94 GT and '03 Taurus and haven't had a single major issue with any one of them. My old '97 Venture on the other hand....The Fusion/Milan is an excellent vehicle. If I were looking at a mid size sedan it would certainly be on my short list. If you have a good deal on one and you are happy with it, that is all that matters.
Well just an update. I settled on a price of 5200, going by KBB and what simular Vibes were selling for in the Phoenix area and put in on craigslist. While figuring I would sell it to friends or co-workers that expressed an interest in it for 4200. I ended up selling it to a very nice lady that cuts my hair, i am sure she will get many trouble free miles from it. BTW in two days on CL for 5200 I received three very interested inquires. I think it would have sold for 5200. Hope this info may help or entertain members here. Thanks to all on this site for the years of Vibe info and political debate.johnc

thanks John. Actually your news only serves to irritate me more, knowing my wife unilaterally decided to give our 2003 away for free. While it looked like hell, the car still could have brought in $2,500 to $3,000 at 130,000 miles. I'm still thrilled with our replacement Hyundail Elantra Touring and hope your decision turns out equally as well. Best wishes.
