Vibe/Matrix Meet!

Post by Kevzaz »

Who wants to pull off a big one?! I understand there is a separate section of meets, but not nearly as active as in 'The Vibe Lounge' I think a meet would be awesome.

A few of us Chicagoland Vibe owners have been discussing the possibility of a larger meet at the Rt. 34 Drive In in Earlville, Illinois...

We better start having a meet once a month than so we can get plenty of quality Vibe time in before you and Chris start traveling .Quote, originally posted by Kevzaz »We should find out who is interested and where everyone is from.Like I said in my earlier post, we have a few people from the Chicagoland area that are up for a big meet. I know myself and a few other locals would be up for driving a bit if it were going to be a big enough meet.

i would be down for a small mini meet in pa or another local state if we could all decide on a date this summer before end of august i know that in the past it difficult to get people to committ and all especially if its lasting more then a day and theres hotels involved and traveling long distance, always last minute things that come up. current somewhat active PA vibes on genvibeWaveresponder (Perkiomenville, PA)Dopevibegt (Lancaster, PA)Kevzaz (Drums, PA)Keithvibe (Lehigh Valley, PA)18stars (Philadelphia, PA)David Hawkins (Harrisburg, PA)04shadowvibe (Pittsburgh, PA)vibegtcouple (Spring Grove, PA York)xmasguy (Bethlehem, PA)Wagonmafia3 (Reading, PA)jammies (harrisburg area PA)RobK (Uniontown, PA)Atomicpunk (Northeast PA)ajf3 (Pittsburgh, PA)morbay (Ambridge, PA)robdog (Somewhere, PA)Bastranz (Plymouth Meeting, PA)rob454 (Pittsburgh, PA)Kingfisher (Blandon, PA)feel free to chime in

If something close to Ambridge PA (just outside Pittsburgh), came up I would like to make it. It would just depend on my work schedule.

Looks like there's a lot of people on the east coast... well if it was later in the summer (July) we actually have to go out to Philadelphia and Baltimore for a work-related project, I suppose if there was something like this going on we could drive instead of fly.But man it's hard to think of a good location for a big meet... darn this large country!

Where are all the Ohio people on this forum??? I'm up for any meet east or west of the Toledo area within a 4hr drive or close to that! Weekends are all open over most of the summer. Fall through winter I play in a lot of Hockey tournaments and it's unpredictable where I'd be. Also I'm on call quite a bit with my job but rarely have to run any calls!

Actually, Ohio would be a good place to do a large multi-state meetup with the Midwest and East Coast...

You Vibe would never forgive you But then Chicago to Philly would be a LONG drive and wast some valuable time==

Ohio is where the J-Body Organization (Cavaliers & Sunfires) has their big meet every year. It's a good in-between point for the midwest and east coast members. I would have no problem driving to Ohio for a big meet.

Ohio would be a pretty good place to do it, and I would be willing to drive there. Should we post on matrix owners for their 2 cents? =p

The more the merrier Although I am one of the few Ohioans on this forum, I would not be able to "host" such an event BUT would gladly attend and add suggestions (I'm a people person & then some ) Maybe some others on this forum can organize something

usually what happens is friday night a few(that are up to it after the long drive) go to dinner then back to the hotel for drinking and talking. Saturday, wake up, eat some hotel breakfast, mull around the parking lot talking till just about everyone is up. Then off to another location for installs, talking, photo op. Then saturday night usually we find a go-cart place and a nice place to eat dinner. Then back to the hotel for more drinks and talking. Sunday we usually have breakfast at a local resturant then we go our sep. ways. There is talk this time to hit up the rock and roll hall of fame, I can tell you this, it usually don't work because of the large numbers and defeats the reason for the meet. If your going to try and do some site seeing then the meet isn't something you would enjoy.

I'm SO down for a big Vibe meet, but the Matrix weekend is most likely a no-go for me. Although, their locale by Cleveland is very do-able for me, as I drive to Western New York a lot. What about Indianapolis? Might attract more of a collective of GenVibers. And Michiganders, we are also overdue for a meet. Lansing?

If Indy is chosen; I work for the state and we have a large parking lot for employees that I have access to during the weekend. I could try and see if we would be able to use that. Although if there is something going on that weekend, they may already have it blocked off. It would be in the heart of downtown with easy access to 65 and 70 which hits 465 and branches off from there.

How could I forget listing Wolfman! You commented in my garage and everything. Forgive me. Offering up that lot is very generous. If it works, that would be great. If not, I'm sure we can find an alternative. Your lot's location sounds nice, though - given all the main highways that are closely accessible. I love that 465 circles the entire area, connecting 69/65/74/70, etc. No matter what direction you're coming from, you can access many areas of Indy that way.Maybe this possible Indy meet has legs/wheels after all. Do we have more support?Another tricky element is nailing down a weekend, seeing that summer is approaching. But, I figure these things take a month or two heads-up to give folks time to plan.

I'd be up for an Indy meet also More north (South Bend, Elkhart) would even be better Too bad there isn't a way to put together a map showing where ALL of us Genvibers are geographically located! Or maybe there is a way and I just don't know how to go about doing it. That would be a good challenge for someone who has MORE time on their hands, and if successful, would be helpful in seeing where a centrally located meet could happen

Looks like we have decent support for this! I'm wondering if we should create a new thread so this Indy idea is more visible to others on here. Reference this thread's link, or recap it in the first entry. If you all think it's a good idea, I can create a more detailed thread with a catchy Indy-themed title!
