New Car Potential

Post by Whelan »

Instead of waiting and looking for a Focus with a turbo in hatch form in 2012-2013. I may give up before then. The MS3 is a nice car but with that and the Focus coming I am still not partial to leaving my AWD behind. I went to the NYIAS and fell in love. The 2011 Subaru WRX sedan. I know it's not the hatch version, I'm not a fan of the hatches. I'm not even a fan of the 2008 Impreza sedan design. But when they put this out there with the standard quad exhaust, wide body design, and other cues from the STi. Throw that with it's proven, reliable, and strong turbo 4 with 265hp on tap. Even with one less gear than the 6 spd. STi it offers everything I could want. Just throw in some heated seats, a sunroof and maybe leather. SOLD!I gotta wait to drive one, but I'm at the point of paying off my car early to trade it in next year for one of these once some tests come out and the winter passes me by. People have been critical of the sedan version even in this new form. I guess my eyes are different cause it fits the bill for me in every detail.

base will start at around 25k msrp...with options you want near 30k. so idk could be worth it for ya but thats going to be a car payment a little more than the trix I like that they are brining back the aggressive look, but meh after seeing what fwd can do on a track I'm not as impressed with awd as I used to be. So you still need to replace the head gasket after you buy one of these?

I won't be at a track, but the AWD is a HUGE sell point for me and I know Subaru has one of the best systems around for the price.I figure if this car is 30k with my options, I talk the guy down to 27-28 give or take depending on whats offered. Trade in my car or sell it for anywhere from 4-5k (112,000 on the odo so far). Then I can finance out a little more than I did on the Trix and pay a much lower rate since my credit is through the roof good and new car rates are MUCH better than used. I'll be close to my current payment. I'd like to keep it at $400 a month if possible.

idk when I test drove the forester vs rav4, crv, mitsu outlander. the subie's awd felt just weird compared to those 4x4's and slipped a lot worse on ice. I personally disliked the way it drove. But to each their own of course. If I did get a subie it would be a sti or nothing. I also do enjoy the evo 8/9's. Do you not like the evo x or is that just too much money? some how a friend of mine got a evo x for $26k new but I think that was the day or day after mitsu rumored it could pull out of the US.

I love Subaru especially the WRX. If it were me I would get the 5-door. I think it looks much better than the sedan.

When you get to $30,000 a lot of other alternatives beckon.I have never paid over $19,000 (before tax etc) for a new car. Most recent '09 Vibe was less than $12,000, the '07 swb T& C under $16,000, and the '03 Vibe before that under $14,000. Some of those deals may never appear again.

I've never bought a new car period. This would be the first. It's always been pre-owned. As for the price, I would get it for under 30K with the options I want for sure. Then if I own my car, I can sell or trade it and bring it down further. Just sucks that Subaru doesn't offer 0% financing. I should be at about $400 or so a month.

Subaru sales have been very strong all though the great recession so I guess they don't have to be aggressive with incentives or financing deals. I am not into $400 a month car costs but everyone has to decide how they want to use their own resources. I can be pretty much of a cheapskate. My children will thank me at the reading of the will .

Not a bad looking car on the outside, better looking than the hatch IMHO. Too bad Subaru spends all their resources on the exterior and under the hood, the interior already looks dated and econobox cheap. I'd let plastics like that fly for $15k but not sure I'd like to see them in a $30k car.

I have spent long periods of time in bot the WRX and STI. The STI is a great car if you want incredible speed, but IMO it is too much for a daily driver, the ride is too harsh. The WRX gives you the best of both worlds. You get a fast car and the ride doesn't shake your teeth out.
