Joined the P0420 club!

Noticed the lovely Check Engine Light this weekend on a road trip to visit my in-laws for Easter. AutoZone pulled a P0420 code for me... yay. The car is a 92,340 miles so I'm guessing the cat won't be under any warranty. I do have an extended warranty that is good until 94,400 miles. I haven't called to see if emission components are covered or not.

Well that's definitely an odd number for your warranty to have, unless you bought it used. Either way, hope it's covered to save you some money!

We bought the car in 2005, with 34,400 miles. We purchased an additional 5 year, 60,000 mile warranty from the dealer, that will expire June 2, 2010 or at 94,400miles, whichever comes first. So far, the extended warranty has covered a bad serpentine belt tensioner and a bad front wheel bearing. We also had it towed to a dealer for service when the poorly wired alarm system shorted out the ECU.I was planing on going to a dealership for an oil change just so they could give it a 'once over' before the warranty epxires, just in case there is anything that might need some attention. If the cat isn't covered though, I might just see if a local exhaust shop can do it cheap.
