Getting another Vibe!

Post by ColonelPanic »

I know I said I'd never do it but I'm feeling a bit sad about not having a Vibe anymore and nostalgia is being really cruel to me. A guy I used to work with moved on to selling cars and he posted an '06 Salsa on Craigslist. It's the only one in the area that doesn't have a zillion miles on it (or an '09-10 which are still way out of my price range.)It's got more miles on it than my same-year Accent (67k vs 63k) but still seems pretty clean and hopefully well cared for. They were asking $9k- something which seems a bit high, but it's since been dropped to $7998. Still a bit high but since I know the guy maybe we can work something out. I was *this* close to having a car paid off too.. (at least trading for this thing will actually lower my payment.) Just hope this is a good one. ha!

Slushbox. From what I can tell it has power package but I don't think it has moon & tunes (I swore off moonroofs after my '03 anyway.) That's about it, nothing real special (except for it being a Vibe.)Not sure if this is a good price, what do you guys think?

LOL! Yeah, April Fools. Hey, it's better than the wrecked Vibe stories we've had in years past, those hurt. The car is real though, I found it cool that I found it on CL and was posted by someone I knew. I checked kbb and something like that booked for around $9k so it's actually not that bad of a deal.If I wasn't a year and a couple months from finally being car-debt-free for the first time in 15 years, I would have to give the guy a call. I do kinda miss the Vibe more now that they're gone for good.Of course once I have the dash completely taken out of Kari's car to replace that faulty recirc acutator I may think twice about wanting another one. hehehe

I did find one on CL that I could afford right now! $600 or so, I think it was an '04. They only provided a pic of the rear and said there was "some" damage on the front. Also only stated the transmission was good. So, that smashed-up, not running Vibe would be look great in the driveway or maybe in the yard up on blocks.

Nice April fools day ... but actually that wasn't a bad looking Vibe in Craigslist. Don't know if I'd go with the automatic... but... it is a Vibe! Hang in there, Colonel!

Yeah, that is a really nice looking one (at least in the pics.) I may send him a message on FB and see if he'll trade even. hahaha! Not that I still don't love the Hyundai though, it's still a fantastic car, still has 37k worth of warranty and isn't giving me any problems. Still kinda pointless to trade now.I've been doing some number crunching for the fun of it and if I can privately sell my Accent I can make right at what I owe if not more, it's immaculate/trouble-free/very well maintained with a substantial amount of documentation to back that up. If I could get someone to give me the $9000 I see cars like mine retailing for I'd be doing pretty well. Slim chance on that though!

Also there is the faction that advocates jut taking out the radio to get access to the recirc motor.

Was curious why the entire dash had to be taken out to access it via the radio is located.

I plan on trying the radio first... Knowing my luck though I'll drop the bolts down somewhere in the dash!
